Patio Speakers - Klipsch CP-4

Post by wayno »

Hi all,

Thinking of picking up a pair of Klipsch CP-4 speakers for the outside deck.

Wondering if any other members have deployed these speakers.

Thanks mate,

We had a 30 year old Sony system which was becoming akin to a gramophone, no connectivity, poor sound and little enjoyment. So much so I cancelled my 60th an the basis that I would embark on a major household audio infrastructure upgrade and have 61 instead. Mrs Wayno is a tight fisted piece of hard work! Yes, she wasn't happy when I first acquired the (Yamaha 683 Music Cast) without bipartisan approval. Only $1000 and all my hard earned mind you, think she's worried every dollar I spend will one less in my account when I fall off perch.

I have Klipsch satellites and woofer for the surround sound indoor part of the amp and they are amazing. Yes, she wasn't any happier when I got those, however is now impressed with the performance and now get's it that I got the woofer for free. I stumbled on an Off the Floor buy at Harvey Norman 65% off. :D

So now looking to set up zone 2(the deck area) on this Yammy. I have looked at the Kogan speakers price wise, but the product experience leans me towards the Klipsch CP-4s and am hovering over pair at $227au + freight $100 out of the US. Perhaps while on a roll I should get the Klipsch, at least they will be a matching set and have a case in justifying the spend.

Think I have convinced myself now????? :?

Wayne, have you thought of using a car amplifier and speakers, they are really good these days. We've used them on stage once when a house PA that was supposed to work didn't and all we had was a mixer, also used car stereo systems for practicing at home when on 12v. Then got lifepo4 and it's all 240v, still haver a 150amp car system in my workshop, which provides enough sound, we use if for BBQ's and get togethers.

Sure they'll work out for you, I'm just a bit of a scrooge when it comes to spending money. Alway go for the cheapest approach to things, which sometimes doesn't work out. Speaker have really changed over the years, we used to have to lug have big heavy boxes round the country, now have these light carbon fibre speaker enclosures and cones and they are so much easier to work with. Give a cleaner sound as well. When we put them on the speaker stands, they look really out of place but do the job and at my age, much easier the load.
