ccd reversing camera

ccd reversing camera

Post by crockitt »

I have fitted a ccd reversing camera to our van and found the picture to be like looking through apartially closed venetian blind. On checking battery voltage I got a reading of 12.6 volts I have jumper battery that tested 13.1 volts. So I temporarily wired it in and the picture was much better. If I can find a way to increase the voltage in this circuit what increase would be safe for the camera? I hope somone can give me some clues here please Dave

I would assume any equipment made for an automotive application would be designed to handle max battery charging voltages, this could be up to 14.8v, so around 13.8v should be fine. try one of these units, http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/290570522986 ... 1423.l2648 both the required current and voltage can be adjusted so it should be tunable to give you the best voltage to give the best picture.

I very much doubt it's the voltage level. Usually lines across a screen mean there's an electrical interference of some sort.
As it's not on the second 'circuit' I'd be looking for it on that first circuit. Battery charger, inverter, flouro, etc.
Can you turn everything off except the camera & then turn on items one at a time to find it?
Most '12v' items will run happily down to 11.5V or so...

Hi Crockitt,
Think the boss has hit the nail on the head, You could try some cap. across the in put to your device. There are some small brown ceramic types that clean up any ac.as well, Just put them from pos.to earth .

Just a thought. Is it hard wired or wireless. Wireless pick up all sorts of rubbish. Mine has 15 metres of cable and great picture.

Hi an update re ccd camera.Have tried capacitor with the camera and voltage adjuster with no improvement I have no idea of the value of the capacitor that my son sent me. I feel that this could be the problem. The voltage adjuster alone made no improvement either so the problem seems to be from the car electrics. I am out of my comfort zone with this but it aint the end of the world and we leave home on or about May 21 for our trip north Dave

I tried one of these years ago and found similar 'issues' with it. Turned out to be interference from my mobile phone

Dave do you have it wired to only work when your ignition is on?
You may need to run it through a relay so it picks up 'clean' power direct from the battery.
A lot of times the 'ignition' feed has a 'job' as a sensor wire for the voltage regulator. (alternator)
