While on a roll posting links, I will be going in to our local hospital for my six month post op check up this afternoon. Fingers are crossed, but quietly confident that I will be totally in the clear.
My story really emphasises the importance of of regular testing for all men over 50 - Just as important the the breast screening program for women.
I have posted my story to help publicise the importance of EARLY diagnosis.

Hi Chris totally agree with you, I have my regular check up every two years under medicare and keep a eye open for the signs of prostrate problems. Take care Robert

12 months ago my routine PSA test was a bit high.
The doctor ordered a second test a few weeks later.
The day after the second test, I had a phone call from the doctors surgery.
"Dr Don would like to see you to discuss the results. It's not urgent, but he does have a free appointment this afternoon."
2 months later, the Urologist declared that I had an enlarged prostrate but no obvious signs of cancer.
No further action required, apart from regular PSA and digit tests.
Apart from the waiting for test results, I think the worst part of the ordeal was having to have an ultrasound with a very full bladder.
On another subject, my bowel cancer screening kit arrived in the mail yesterday...

Totally agree all men need to have the digit and bloods done and for sons of those men (tested positive) also need to be tested, G's son started having tests when he was 40.

Biggest morning tea on tomorrow at bowls, agree with all the comments at least you have a better chance having regular check ups on many forms of cancer.

Maybe I should ask the NRMA legal team for a report of what they saw while they were up there 
Latest talk from the cancer specialists seemed to through some doubt on the accuracy of the blood test prostrate diagnosis process. My last blood test came back ok so not an issue for me yet.

Then the needle biopsy unravels the real story. My symptoms were all below the normal "trigger" level, but my intuitive doctor was not completely satisfied with the digital investigation - And the rest is now history.
