new way

Hi all,
Just thought i would share our different trip fromMelb to Taree,We usually go up the Hume but
decided to track a bit inland a lovley trip.road in place need work but they all could use some work on them,
we went up the Hume to Banella camped at Winton Wetlands,next morningthrough Yarrawonga over the Border and up Through Denton stopped outside of Wagga,then on to a cupper at Junee chacolate factory than up to Harden ,Crookwell than Gouldourn back to hume through Sydney up the Paciffic to Taree and Coopernook Forest.Klm wise i worked it out to beabout 3 hundred ks longer.
We found it a good quite way when not in a rush.

I'm surprised it was about 300km's longer though.
Yes if you have the time I think it's a good idea to wander off the beaten track a bit.
I love the chocolate factory idea!!
I've heard ripe strawberries dipped in hot choccy is delicious!

Denton is a small place north of Yarrawonga

I have found the best way to see most places is to not use the GPS.
Tassie is great for that, we have been to places most don't go because they stay on the main road or H/Way.

Our tour of Tas took us to some out-of-the-way places...
Nine weeks, and we didn't have time for the West Coast!
Oatlands is a great little find: 87 GEORGIAN houses still in (mostly) original condition!
The old Georgian Prison building is now the TAFE HQ!
And the (free) camp is right on the lake shore. Can't beat that!

WARNING: If you have anything longer than a 6.5m m/h, DON'T tackle the Elephant Pass road from south of St Marys!
Our 13m rig took the whole road to negotiate some of the hairpin bends. PTL for air-horns... warned oncoming traffic to wait until we'd negotiated the turns.

You wont believe this Ray but back in 07 I took our then caravan up the Elephant pass from the southern end.
Wasn't till I got to the top that I seen the sign saying not for caravans.
We also went up from the St.Marys end on another trip.
Silly me but was a good experience.
