Thanks Wendy, when we use to camp on Cape Tribulation beach in 1970, the Ryker family lived a self sufficient lifestyle on their property fronting the beach, the grandparents lived in a small cottage with beautiful French polished wood throughout, all built from the rain forest, the son & his two young children lived separately in an open air type structure with a mezzanine level for sleeping. The g'mother would walk on the beach during the day, book in hand teaching the children. All their water came from the forest in bamboo pipes, they grew everything including tea & coffee. The set up was amazing.

Wow that sounds amazing, there's Rykers road there now, I wonder if family is still there. We loved it there, best place in Aus so far, would dearly love to get a block there one day.
