Didn't realise you had the same pickup for both, however I would still blow down the line to check that it all connects as it should.
And as I mentioned air locks can be an issue.
Cheers,
What did you do to your rig today?

Re: What did you do to your rig today?
Thanks Bernie .
its on my to-do list . sounds easy bloody rained again all night so the bus is in a lake at the moment . I don't think its the fuel otherwise the bus wouldn't run .
Plus the power here has been off all night don't know when it came back on but was still off at 3.30am obviously on now .
Sorry didn't answer you Dot I don't need the genny on , the bus is on power I can either turn on the electric heater or the aircon if I want but we are not living in the bus we are in the house...running amuck while my relies are overseas .
The fuel in the line is viscos especially when one is under when line was cut in new location . I would assume that the fuel in Tassie would be a winter blend anyway , I did add 40lts to the tank on Saturday .
Jon I know your bus is different but I was wondering if the return line to the tank would be a better option , that would no doubt mean the return pipe in the tank went to the bottom as the main line does...Its impossible to see if mine does without removing the top of the tank which is defiantly not on my to do list . Different if I was home , but not here .

Re: What did you do to your rig today?
No Bernie,
can't be in the return line.
1. You don't know how deep the return line goes into the tank.
2. And with all the suction restrictions (filters, return valves, lift pump etc) the heater pump will die.
I'd be checking for a small air leak. Can you quickly bypass the hose between the tank pick off point and the heater pump?
Also, the little black joining hoses can be a thin walled rubber hose. Mine were and split very quickly. Replace them with 3/16 (5mm) proper fuel hose that is reinforced. hard to find as its small bore. but Autobahn had it locally here.

Re: What did you do to your rig today?
I'll second Jon on the little fuel hose joiners leaking, the chinese ones anyway, the webasto ones are ok. They will let air in when the fuel pump sucks but virtually no fuel will leak out which makes the job of finding which one is leaking hard.
Once it gets a little air bubble in the line then the pump simply doesn't work.

Re: What did you do to your rig today?
Thanks everyone . Jon I bought some fuel line from the mower man in Ulverstone yesterday and I will remove and replace later if it stops raining .
The joiners on mine are the thick one's and I bought new last week .
Th fuel line I bought yesterday is to soft for full time use but ok for experiment....plus it can fit T piece to pump without joiners .

Re: What did you do to your rig today?
Depending how much fuel the heater uses, a tank in the return line that gravity fed to the heater pump would solce a lot of leaking suction line issues and clearly show where the serious leaks were. Maybe a small Facet type pump to top up the heater fuel tank from the main tank every so often wouldn't hurt either. A line from the top of the new heater fuel tank back to the main tank would take care of any overflow problems and maybe a float switch to turn the facet pump on/off every so often to circulate the fuel if the main engine wasn't being run for a while.

Bernie maybe the fuel pump is on the way out put the 10 litre tin down alongside the fuel tank see if it will lift the diesel from there.

Re: What did you do to your rig today?
Don't matter how fast I am Dot she out runs me .
The 10 litre tank is at ground level Bob cuppla feet below the main tank but thanks anyway .
Geez T1 you make it too hard for a simple job...???
Now as it rained all night and I'm thinking of re-regoing the bus as a marine vessel , and by the way still bloody raining ..GRRR .
I had about one hour earlier with no rain so I thru the ground sheet down and went for a squiz
I removed the old fuel line from the pump and the T piece and attached the new fuel line I bought yesterday . This line is see thru so I could see if the fuel was moving up to the fuel pump , I had started the bus engine to make sure there was fuel available . And bugga me fuel began to come up the fuel line ( I had also started the heater after a few minutes of the bus running ) . Now methinks I have fixed it_____________NO .
I turned the bus engine off and air bubbles started coming up the line>>>>>>bugga . So I have at least narrowed it down to a air leak (still to be found)
I noticed a cupple of diesel drips coming from one of the engine pipes , but that can now wait till this infernal rain stops .
Sorry to those on the land about my cursing the rain I know its needed else where .
