I think something to be considered here is how long you think you might be running the heater. We generally don't run it at night. We turn the heater on when we wake, maybe stay in bed until the van begins to warm up with the vent open into the bathroom. We would not run the heater for more than 2 hours in the morning (therefore, 2 hours for the day). Our bathroom vent can be closed so if we wanted to run the heater in the evening, the living/bedroom area would heat more quickly (we generally shower in the morning). It horses for courses. With such a minimal amount for a second vent, I would definitely install it, especially if the second vent can be closed.

Have you forgot crawling under the bus to increase the cable size to 6mm square for the 12V side of my LPG/240V/12V three way?T1 Terry wrote: Ummmm.... a 3way fridge is a gas fridge Brad, do you mean a 175ltr compressor fridge?...
With hind site, I wished I'd put in a compressor fridge along with as much solar as could be practically fitted.
Another thing I wished I'd done is leave off the a/c unit in favour of a four seasons vent giving even more room for solar.
dawg (who is glad Bob is benefiting from my old compressor)

We have camped in the Snowy Mountains (not in the middle of winter) when it was very cold and heavily misted and had the heater running for 4 days straight.... The heater control is beside the bed which means that if it is a bit warm during the night the wife (who likes to control everything) can turn the heater down.
The only issue we have ever had is the LED in the control knob is too bright when it is at eye level and at night. My wife, put some Blue Tack on it. Problem solved.
There have been times when we have been camping in colder parts of Australia and left the heater on as we were touring. Then when we stop and jump in the back for that cuppa tea or camp for the night the temperature was perfect.
My opinion about the heater....BLOODY FANTASTIC

Does your heater have the simply low to high type thermostat or the one with the degrees maked on it that turns the heater on and off?

My heater the Webasco, just has a sliding scale from wide to narrow... It does not take long to work out where you want to run the heater on any given day.. I also like to keep an air vent slightly open just to keep the air circulating.
I only have one outlet and the living space is about 6 M X 2.5M.

I think this has been asked before but ....
Are you available for doing fridge repairs & updates?
Are you 'in business' or just a hobbyist?
Do you have "mates rates"?
Do you do air conditioners as well?
Bob....

Warren, please be aware that you cannot just add meters of ducting and expect the unit to work properly. I have an Airtronic D2 and love it. When I installed it I found a great site for Airtronic heaters
http://www.letonkinoisvarnish.co.uk/Ebe ... tro_1.html
One document I located (on the Eberspacher web site i think) and I have not found it mentioned anywhere else is the Eberspacher Marine Heater Installation guide. In it there is a whole section on ducting and it has a table with various fittings given a rating: the bends, meters of ducting, outlets, silencers etc. It provides a maximum rating for each type of heater using two different duct diameters, you add the ratings of your fittings and it is supposed to be at or under the rating.
It will more than likely not be possible to have two outlets at either end of your van. You may have to have the heater centrally located with an outlet going front and back with minimal ducting run

I am sure you have found this alternative product during your research. They have been active around CMCA activities for some time I understand.
http://www.dieselheatingaustralia.com/P ... icing.html
This one is made in China while the Planar I understand is made in Russia. These people - Diesel Heaating Aust (DHA). are the ones I am looking at getting my heater from (5000w coolant heater - bottom of 1st page when it becomes available in May).
I have had conversations with both Pinacle and DHA and Snugger Australia. DHA have exclusive distribution of Snugger products here.
Given the difference in the quality and forthcomingness of information / support from DHA, more than compensates, in my view, for a small difference in price.
The 2 companies claim different technological advantages which unfortunately I don't have the background to properly evaluate. The reports from a couple of people I have met of after sales support from DHA supports my subjective preference. Robs comments about after sales support from Pinacle should be factored into your final decision.
