Maybe first ring around the people that service diesel heater like maybe Brett's Camper Care and any other people here might be able to recommend, ask them if parts etc are readily available for both the pinicle unit out of Russia and the Diesel Heaters Aust unit out of China. I would base my decission on their repairability rather than the initial purchase price, you may end up back at the Eberspacher unit.aussichef wrote:Terry

what price is the water heating unit John?PandJ R away wrote:Warren
I am sure you have found this alternative product during your research. They have been active around CMCA activities for some time I understand.

This one is made in China while the Planar I understand is made in Russia. These people - Diesel Heaating Aust (DHA). are the ones I am looking at getting my heater from (5000w coolant heater - bottom of 1st page when it becomes available in May).
I have had conversations with both Pinacle and DHA and Snugger Australia. DHA have exclusive distribution of Snugger products here.
Given the difference in the quality and forthcomingness of information / support from DHA, more than compensates, in my view, for a small difference in price.
The 2 companies claim different technological advantages which unfortunately I don't have the background to properly evaluate. The reports from a couple of people I have met of after sales support from DHA supports my subjective preference. Robs comments about after sales support from Pinacle should be factored into your final decision.

The product hasn't been released in Oz yet. Has been available overseas for a some time. DHA have had units under test for a while now. I last spoke to them last year. They advised that they hoped to release it around Easter. This type of unit is required for a calorifier /heater application otherwise the air heater version is a simpler option. Finding nice looking and reasonably priced vents is becoming a problem. Pam is also interested in a towel warmer /dryer which is likely to be a custom job if it arrives at all.
If you scroll through the specs info for this type of heater on the Snugger site they have some big units also. I thought about something like that for heating at the block. I think the campfire will win out there though.

Re: A Delma! Diesel heater or 175L Copressor Fridge ?
A bit late but here is my 2 cents worth!
Arrived in Tas, Hobart January for up to 6 months work! jeez thats into winter
. No heating unless plugged into 240. Even when driving bus, heating(If you could mention heating) needed reworking, on the to do list! . Was parked at Hobart Showground, woke up Feb morning freezing, looked out to see MT Wellington half covered in snow, decision made there an then ordered Airtronic D4 with 3 outlets. The Logistics of placing the unit and outlets was made easy(remember little/no bus heating) 2 outlets up front and 1 between lounge and kitchen stove. There is a pic in Meet & Greet section/Time for up dates/page 2 to give idea of area.
The Airtronic D4 is up front just behind left hand headlights, and I have ran a length of ducting across the front of motorhome through/around the wheel arch to come up in between lounge/ stove. I found the ducting supplied very flimsy so walked 1 street away from showground near railway line that sold ducting etc (can't find receipt or remember name yet TPR Flexible Ducting from Brierley Hose and Handling 1 Lampton ave Derwent Park for those interested!). They showed me a thick black rubber type duct which I then used instead. But I was still concerned about heat lose over a 5 metre outside run, so I used some roofing foil that I was given and wrapped the rubber duct in that, then cut the flimsy foil duct in half and wrapped that over the top of the two products. Wired and silver tapped the lot together. Only mention the above for those who can't run any ducting internally. I could not imagine being without the unit.
Yes the bedroom/bathroom can be quite cool/cold but if the need ever arises a small 2nd unit could be added.
I Know $$$, why not just add jumpers(or head north) but something like one's health/medical condition can or comes into the equation.
Warren you will not regret your 'decision'

Tassie summers, they never let you know which day it's going to be and if you sleep in you miss it for another year

Heating Rubber ducting fills me with dread.....
Something about the possible leaching of chemicals worries me, unless it was built for that job.
Remember that even though Glad Wrap or similar type plastic wraps are used in cooking it is not recommended as they leach chemicals.
Just my first instinct as an observer

When I arrived in Tassie back in December 2009, I asked "when is summer" and the reply was that it was last Wednesday.T1 Terry wrote:Tassie summers, they never let you know which day it's going to be...
Timing is everything unless you have heating.

Experience is a wonderful thing. It helps you recognise a mistake when repeated.

Like lesley would not go without our VitroFrigo compressor. Not a problem in the hottest of days. Use it all year ah but I would sure love the heater as well but beggars can't be choosers as the saying goes!
You can always get out of the van on cold mornings, start genny for a tiny fan heater which has the van warm very quickly.
