Our Recent Tour of Eastern Europe and England

Post by Newcastle George »

We returned last week from our 8 week tour which included 2-3 nights in the following cities: Moscow, St Petersburg-Russia,Tallinn-Estonia, Riga-Latvia, Vilnius-Lithuania, Warsaw-Poland, Krakow-Poland, Prague-Czech Republic, Vienna-Austria, Bratislava-Slovakia, Budapest-Hungary, Zagreb, Split and Dubrovnic-Croatia, Naples and Rome-Italy, London, Oxford, The Cotswolds ,Chester/Liverpool and Manchester-England.

Moscow to Vienna was part of a 20 day tour with an excellent, very knowledgable Polish guide who was assisted by various guides along the way. Apart from a train trip from Moscow to St Petersburg (it took 45 minutes to shuffle our way off the station), the remainder of the tour was in a 40 seat coach with a maximum of 13 and minimum of 5 passengers.

From Vienna to Rome was organised by Julie with travel by Taxi, Coach, Ferry and Hopon Hopoff Bus with accomodation averaging approx. $Aus40/night. During our stay in England we hired a car which we were able to pick up as we left London and drop off in Manchester. While in London we again utilised Hopon Hopoff buses.

The weather overall was very pleasant with only two days of rain and we were able to do a lot of walking to see the sights with our best effort being 20km in a day in London.

I must say that Moscow was exceptionally clean with even the subway spotless as opposed to Naples which was absolutely putrid.

I am in the process of sorting our photos and once done will post some from each location visited.

Oh Boy!! What a trip you've been on!!
I'm starting to remember things I saw / did in my early year but have trouble recalling recent events so it'd be wasted on me ........... I'd be searching for Mussolini & Hitler .............
George if you wish to go to town with the pictures you can/should use the photo album facility available & then you can direct all your friends/rellies to go look there?

Welcome back George. We are thinking of doing a similar tour in the next year or so, so any info would be appreciated. Looking forward to checking out your new photo album.
Cheers

"tanks" here---saying hello to George and Julie.
Keith.
I'm now 87 years old, having experienced another birthday, and I'm still living in WA, single (gave up looking), white hair, no teeth, no money, no worries.
I plan to have another birthday next year.
