Fuel prices in Tasmania

Post by native pepper »

Today when driving through Sorell, noticed a rig at the coles fuel outlet, which had ozervnews on the back. As we were in a line of traffic, couldn't stop and turn round to speak to them about where to buy their fuel. So thought I might let those travelling in Sth Tas on the way to Port Arthur where not to waste their money.

In Hobart and surrounds, you will pay over $1.60 for diesell, in Sorell the price of diesel is $1.64.9lt If you drive down the Arthur Highway to Dunnelly, you will pay $1.43.9 and at Murdunna a few kilometers further, $1.45.9lt. Petrol has about the same difference in pricing.

When you get off the ferry and head sth, don't fuel up in Devonport, as prices are about the same as down sth. But if you drive from devonport through Latrobe, a few kilometers past at the top of a hill you will see a united fuel station just off the road on the right and there you will save 20c a lt

So don't get ripped off in Tas, there is cheap fuel available if you know where to look and all the big outlets are just ripping people off.

I was in Adelaide yesterday evening and all the major roads had serious traffic problems. Turned out to be Woolies fuel stations were selling unleaded at $1.05ltr and up to 8c ltr off if you had the docket and bought $5 worth of something in the shop. A loaf of bread and 2 x 2ltr milk covered that, so 0.97c ltr 8-) There were people filling 20 ltr plastic jerry cans by the dozen and lines right back up the road for a km or more and still the same thing but shorter lines at 10:30pm after the AEVA meeting.

27 cents a litre difference for unleaded in Caboolture yesterday for stations on opposite sides of the road.
I noticed this after declining to get in the line for the cheaper one, thought myself quite smart for going to the BP with hardly any customers !
Cuppla cents a litre could not be bothered but 27 ! Holy tamales Batman ! (Says boy wonder)

A wonder the BP didn’t climb down 10c or so.
In Rutherglen we can’t buy the 95 octane the Supercar requires 😢, so we have to travel interstate to Corowa. (10km 😝)
At the moment it’s $1.16/litre.

I can only dream about those prices for the time being! Still over $1.70 a litre for diesel in Broome, & nearer to us $2.10 at Beagle Bay. Prices dropped just after christmas too!

Diesel in Devonport at Shell is $1.399, about 4 days ago, no petrol, about 2km from ferry terminal. Shell has two outlets in Burnie, River Rd Wivenhoe Has petrol) and opposite Harvey Norman in wharf precinct. Westbury has a fuel outlet near DJ Machinery. There are outlets in Launceston and Hobart. These prices started out at over 20c/l, the opposition have tightened this a little but mostly around 16c/l still.

These are self service and require a credit card for payment
