You've done the right thing by buying one Dirk.
It's like an insurance policy, now you have one you will probably never need it. :D

Hopefully the generator will get little to no use at all, that's why I went with the el-cheapo ebay version rather than a Honda /Yamaha gen. I regard this one as a throw away rather than a keeper. I'll only use this as a last resort, bad weather type situation. Hopefully the solar and batteries etc. will do the job without use of this generator at all. Well that's the plan but of course......

I know you have the right bateries and you are setting up a good system, I think i'd let the generator get all the outside cooling it can as it's going to be a rare occurance use thing so it would be during the acceptable generator hrs I would assume.
My rant was more for the user who wants to run the generator all night to power the air con so bolts it up in a sound proof box hoping no one will hear it.

I can imagine just how annoying a gen. running at all hours could/would be. Missed your rant though....Lol. Bad enough clowns mowing their lawns early on the weekends or because they want to get away early somewhere. Worse still was when I was on night shift.....grrrrr.... just get to sleep and the friggin mowers start.

Generally if its in a location where its no going to annoy people, out in the mulga somewhere then I would slide it out on its tracks and run it outdoors. As I said its only a last resort. Hell I can / am not allowed to run the a/c at home during the night as the little green light annoys you know who.

When I get it set up and get some readings I'll post it for reference.
