I use MS Office, it can rotate images, crop them, resize them for posting in an email or on the forum or for printing in an article and can move it into an email or PowerPoint if you want to add text boxes or add lines or symbols etc. The colour density can be altered along with the contrast ........don't know what I'd without it really, just so easy to use.

Test 2

Ok, now I'm confused.
i flipped test 1 inside file explorer. WIN10 Just right click on the file and context menu pops up 'Rotate'
I viewed it in Microsoft Photo --- Built in to WIN10 All ok. Upload and it's on its side.

Test 2 I opened and viewed it in Adobe Photoshop. hmmmm Still on its side. So, flipped it. Now ok.
I'm guessing the first option was merely flipping the view. Not the actual file.

Thanks guys
All good now

Jim

Did you save the file after flipping it in File Explorer, then reopen it to make sure it had saved it right way up?

Interesting thought but there is no facility to save it once flipped in file explorer. I had always assumed it was automatically saved. So I tested it to be sure.
What do you know? I flipped a photo and then opened it in Photoshop. No change. So that confirms, it's only flipping the view, not the file itself.
What was that saying about people who assume? Seems I am guilty of it anyway.

Maybe turn your phone/camera 90 degrees in the right direction before clicking Jim?
I think The Apple products record the 'exif' details for orientation.

I'm not certain about the location in Win10, but Win7 there is a drop down window labelled FILE in the left hand corner, select save as and add 1 or something to the end of the title or just rename it and any changes will be saved without messing up the original.

Nup,
I guess yet another difference between 7 and 10.

Never mind. I think I've got a handle on things now. Live and learn.
