Re: Aldi TV ??
Do any of those things say anything about the picture or sound quality?

Re: Aldi TV ??
Not really. The critical factor is viewing angle, the wider the better, ie as close to 90deg as possible. I agree with Bruce. Buy a decent brand. We bought a samsung smart tv. 32 inch,. We travel it on the bed face down. As long as we have telstra, we can netflix if their is no tv signal, or stream saved movies off phone or tablet. Or plug in a hard drive. We run it off the 380w inverter, same time as tje phone chargers etc..

Re: Aldi TV ??
Dottie,
All these refer to picture quality and what you can connect when you don't want to (or can't) watch broadcast TV:
Aspect Ratio = 16 units wide and 9 high - approximates a cinemascope screen;
Contrast Ratio = the difference between the darkest and lightest parts of the picture where you can make out detail (the bigger this number the better)
MPEG2 & 4 = DVD recording formats (for ones you record yourself)
Compatible formats = it seems you can play just about anything on a DVD disc, no matter what it is! Music, TV shows, Home-recorded rewritable discs (+R/RW, -R/RW), Downloaded or commercial release movies, Video games...
Presets, Channel block, Favourites, Timer = now common on virtually all flat-screens. Channel block is for controlling what ratings kids are allowed (G, M, MA, R, etc). You'll probably use a max of 10 of the 800 channel presets, reprogramming them to receive whatever local stations are available where you camp.
Common interface (CI+) slot = I thing they mean its a USB slot... check it.
Hope this helps...

Re: Aldi TV ??
The earphone jack is one of the important things. Very few TV's seem to have audio out, only multiple audio in jacks so you can't plug in a sound bar or Bluetooth hearing aid appliances etc. A fibre optic port is good, not sure what acronym covers one of those things.
If you want a wide viewing angle you need to get a curved screen model, yep, they went from curved screen to flat screen and now back to curved screen, but the curve is the other way now. No idea how you see what happened in r/h edge of the picture when you view it from the right hand side and the same the other way around, but they say the curved screen has the widest viewing angle ... or they could have been telling me porkies ... happened before and more than once
