Sad news:
Our contact in the US was told the wishbone would be available this week.
He has now been told it will be THREE MONTHS!😳
Seems the supplier was counting on the part being in stock at the wholesalers. The wholesalers apparently get their supplies from the same source as our Loxton mechanic found. 😫
Sorry, John... looks like you’ll be working around Girt in your Shed for a while yet...
We’ll be heading your way again in a few weeks to collect more stuff we couldn’t fit in the hire car’s boot last week.
Regards & God bless,
Ray

And I told Girt it would all be over in a few weeks. Now I will have to give her the bad news and that emu is costing us a fortune in feed.
Cheers John

T1 Terry wrote: Tue Apr 16, 2019 11:25 am Not sure if this will be good news for you or not Ray, but Jim is back in the world of the living. Turns out, who ever was doing the servicing on the transmission was only changing the oil, not pulling the pan off and cleaning the strainer and replacing the "O" ring on the pick up. The strainer was blocked and the "O" ring spilt, so the pump was sucking air with the oil causing it to cavitate, that was the noise. Sadly it has seriously damaged the clutches, so it might be a short term reprieve before the transmission does need to be totally rebuilt, oil starvation resulted in loss of clamping pressure on the clutch packs and they have started to tear themselves to pieces.
So, who ever was doing the transmission servicing, they were not doing the job properly and the problem compounded, that is what eventually caused to "fail to proceed"

Hi Terry,
I discussed this post with the Assistant Manager of Brooks Suzuki, in Wodonga today. They had serviced Jim from the day we moved to Rutherglen.
The Deputy Boss-man says the automatic transmission oil is scheduled by Suzuki to be replaced at 165,000km. Unluckily for us (& Jim) he had just passed 161,500km when he expired. Boss-man entered Jim's chassis number into the Suzi service database, & came up with the page below.
He says the trans is a sealed system, and it's more likely the reverse of your theory: the clutch pads probably started decomposing, clogging the pick-up filter, and causing the pump to cavitate. Unless contaminated oil was used to top-up the trans (not applicable with Jim), there's no way for cr^p to enter the trans.
As I am not a mechanic, just the son of one, who gazed blankly at the innards of a destroyed auto trans at the age of about 12, I know what an impeller looks like, and the theory of its operation, but know 0 about multi-plate clutches, as I believe they did not exist at the time of which I speak.
Just thinking outside the square, where is the strainer & O-ring? If it's on the bottom of the trans, is it possible that in manufacture the strainer was over-tightened, splitting the O-ring? Would this then over time (11 years) deteriorate, gradually allowing air in? :? Just a thort.........
Whatever the truth of the story, I'm happy that Jim has been resurrected.
The Asst Mgr warns that if you wish to avoid a repeat, check the trans fluid after 10,000km, and for a belt-&-braces approach, replace it anyway.

(Hope this is legible for you!! It does blow up enlarge when clicked.) (Clarification for ASIO monitor. :P )

Well I'll be either here or there for some time .... !!!

Not sure if it's because Terry & Margaret have left the stage (town) or not but by geese it's actually rained here today!
Did you see the little 20 month old kid on the news running around in the rain?
First time he's ever seen rain! The look on his face when he realized no one actually had a hose or bucket above him!!!
I loved it!

Heading to Melbum today in the trust Tiguan.

Bit of a story but the short version is that Trina's deceased aunt Joyce's partner Patricia - confused yet? - passed away cupla months ago & we recently heard from the mob handling the estate.

I won't go into details, but the house is located in Hawthorn & there are three main 'contenders' (can't think of the appropriate word here) ... Trina's eldest sister in England, herself & younger sister in America. The estate is still being conducted as there are numerous other parties involved in handouts from the will.

As for the house & contents... the house will be auctioned later in the year, as agreed by all three sisters, & as for the contents the other two sisters have asked us to check on what is left & ascertain if anything is worth keeping.

Hence our trip today.

We have an appointment with the legal mob at the house Monday 10:00 hrs, the information we are being given is that there is little of any value inside the house. We are actually hoping that is in fact the case as we do not want to have hassles among the three of them as to who wants or is entitled to this or that!!!

Fingers crossed.

Hawthorn? I'll take the worthless Rembrandt & all the period furniture please?
It's that old it's gotta be worthless?
I went through a similar exercise a while ago Chuck.
We contacted the Salvo's and said they could have whatever they liked but they also had to organise to get the remainder dumped at their expense.
I'm sure they came out well in front but saved a lot of work & expense.

Hawthorn is a good area Chuck, Oh happy days when it comes to dead people and wills etc, just travel gently but be careful down there, it's like a foreign country down good old Melb way. ;) They don't give a toss about any road rules etc and most of all keep your car locked when driving. I am not kidding about anything I have just written. :D

Talking to a climate changer (young person, who else) the other day and she was going on and on about how we have created droughts ourselves in the last 50 years. Told here about my mum running screaming inside when she was 7, because it stated to rain and she did not know what it was ! Mum was born in 1908 so around 1915,
Climate changer person was in denial, simply would not believe me as it did not fit what they had been brainwashed with !

Pity the "climate Young'uns" don't read history , like when the inland sections of the Murray and The Darling Rivers both dried up at the turn of last century.

The drought then lasted 10 years and all the rivers were dust bowls.

But the Young 'uns arent interested in anything that makes their modern data look foolish are they
