Ron agree. Climate is just doing what climate does. Nothing changes in til that water falls from above.
Time is passing too quickly so live life to the full with your spouse/partner while you still have she/he by your side.

* Heading to Melbum today in the trusty Tiguan.

Bit of a story but the short version is that Trina's deceased aunt Joyce's partner Patricia - confused yet? - passed away cupla months ago & we recently heard from the mob handling the estate. *

OK. Been there done that!

Trip down there on Saturday was uneventful & spent the night in a cabin at a van park in Wodonga... all good until it started getting a bit chilly so tried to activate the aircon. Nup, didn't wanna work so after about 30 mins we decided to have a shower & hit the sack... well it was around 21:00 (pm) for you non military types. Bed was good - queen size & firm too - something I don't know too much about these days.

Slept reasonably well till around 0400 hrs when it felt decidedly cooler but stayed under the covers for another cupla hours then ventured up 'n' about. phone indicated the temp was 2.8c.

I went straight to the shower for the next 30 mins - nice 'n' hot 'n' steamy, then I felt better.

Hit the road again around 0930 for the 300 odd kays to the Lilydale location van park for the next 3 days.

Monday at 1000hrs we met the deceased's Financial Adviser/Accountant who had the keys & had a reasonably detailed talk about what was happening. The main thing for him was what our intentions were regarding the contents in the property.

The last time we were there with both owners, Joyce & Pat(ricia) was about 20 years ago... just before Joyce passed away. Now that Pat has passed as well the Trustees (in Tassie :o ) have a rather large job on their hands with 3 sisters... 1 in Aus, 1 in UK & 1 in USA as well as 2 large charities who have all been nominated a considerable amount of $$$ each. We think the auction may take place around Aug/Sep if all the little ends have been trimmed into place... but we're not holding our breath.

It's been a very hectic 2 days here... the old house is a bloody mess internally - as far as cleanliness/tidyness goes... it's been vacant since just before last Christmas. We spent nearly all of yesterday going through each room, checking drawers/cupboards/bathrooms/kitchen looking for any documents pertaining to the past occupants... found the passport & birth certificate of Joyce along with a wallet/purse of Pat's that contained numerous bank cards & other personal papers. We handed the wallet/purse to Geoff/Accountant when he returned later in the afternoon. Told him about the item for Joyce & no problems. We took a number of items from the house that we were entitled to & gave a list of them to Geoff.

So now our trusty Tiguan is going to be carrying a hell of a lot more stuff back to the Blue Mountains... it literally will be bloody full!

When we get back will contact the 2 other sisters & have a 3 way computer chat to advise them of how it all went. Unfortunately none of the old furniture one would associate with this type of building is a standard worth any $$$ so we suggested to Geoff that they organise a skip bin & just turf everything out. He smiled, nodded & was going to suggest exactly the same to us.

Now we just wait for the next step.

Back home tomorrow PM.

Chuck is Geoff the executor?
Any financial advisor, previous accountant, friend or even relation really has anything to do or say ............ unless they are the executor of the will.
The executor also can not profit in any way from doing his job. (only recover actual expenses)

No Bruce he's not the excalibre whatever just the 'now' ex financial adviser & accountant, we have spoken to the executor (sp?) & she is really nice & extremely happy to have at least one member of the 'family' in Aus & was delighted when we offered to drive down to Melbourne to check out the property. It had been quite a few years since we were last there. One thing we didn't expect to find was a piano totally covered with a sheet & lots of soft clothing etc on top. Advised the executor of our find... she had no idea one was there... will be included in the 'value' items.

Visited Girt in the Riverlander Memorial Home for Elderly Motorhomes the past few days.
Gathered up a few essentials which we couldn't fit into the boot of the hire car when Girt busted a knee.
Also collected our trailer (hire cars don't have towballs), and some past-their-use-by-date Christmas yard decorations which Loxton Christmas Committee generously discarded in our direction. Thanks Faye! Rutherglen Committee will be pleased to extend their life a little. :D
John & Faye have been most generous with their help when we visited, taking time off from a busy house renovation project.
We look forward to visiting Loxton again when Girt's transplant parts arrive. (June sometime, or later! )
Also looking forward to seeing the renovations on the house completed... :P

Also collected on this trip was the latest addition to our garden ornament collection: Ollie the Emu.
Here he is in his new home:

Just for the curious, here's the catalogue page showing the lower wishbone which has the crack in it.
The crack is in the trailing edge (which in the diagram is the upper edge) on the right of the diagram, near the block whatsit sitting on top with the U-bracket poking out.

BTW, that's US Dollars... and the assorted parts required for the refit more than doubled the cost.
And then there's freight...
