Good morning all. Thanks for the advice, however nothing will happen for a little while as the van is required at my son's place for a time. He has a mate coming from near Airlie and he needs a bedroom. We have been looking after son's chooks, budgies and seedlings and his beautiful if brainless 13 week old Siberian Husky pup. It is not quite 'travelling' but sleeping in the van reminds me what a great time we had while we were on the road. And it's all past tense with the fingers, except for Scotch Fingers, fish fingers, finger buns, Tommy Hilfinger, burnt fingers.....

Hello all, well the job is done. After chasing around Adelaide for the seal material and not getting anywhere I contacted Jayco at Dandenong and spoke with Chris who works in the retail parts area. I described what I wanted and he asked pertinent questions and then went in search of the answers. Rang back to say yes they had the seal in stock, so I paid for it and he put it in the mail. Cost $203.00 incl. postage. Very happy with that. Box duly arrives so then I went to a couple of caravan fixers to see how much to install it. They wanted to see the caravan so that a figure could be arrived at, and of course they were right in doing that, and they wanted $105 per hour to do what-ever work. The figure 3-4 hours was bandied about. Hmmm. So I rang Chris at Jayco again to syphon his brain. He said that he hadn't done that work but he was prepared to go out on the floor to ask the troops. He rang back to say that by using an appropriate jack and using a shoulder judiciosly I should be able to move the slide-out box to achieve the appropriate space for working the seal onto the extrusion edge. Good. Anyway sitting here after breakfast Friday, and it being a perfect day, I decided to bite the bullet and pull the old seal completely out and perhaps do the job myself (self doubter that I am). Well wonder of wonders, by backing off the nuts which secure the box to the slide out mechanism, using a floor jack and a couple of bits of timber the job got done in about 3 hours. Don't know what I was worried about. Must say a big thank you to 'Chris' for going out of his way to help. Well done. And thanks also to those who offered advice earlier.
