You just ran an acid bath though the engine. Why bother distilling? There will be more chemicals left in from the bath than what is in the tap water.

Oh yeah, SA water. Still, can't be that bad.

They ask for distilled water to be used when mixing with the coolant concentrate. The water here comes from the Murray, salt and all, at least the distillation will reduce the salt level.
The acid wash has been pressure flushed out, granted by using Murray salted water and compressed air, I could run a soda wash through it to clear out any remaining citric acid .... but I think the salt isore of a problem than any remaining citric acid, that stuff neutralises itself as it acts on the rust scale, so my guess is it would be fairly ph balanced by now.
I could run just distilled water through it fo a while, then drop that and add the coolant and distilled water ..... worthwhile? Or over the top?

That citric acid goes in clear, it comes out very dark green, almost black, the concrete was covered in what looked like fine clay silt, a lot of it, but this was all the cooling system stainer caught, so it doesn't look like there are large rust flakes in there anyway. I'll check the water strainer/filter every few days at first, just to see if anything gets stirred up while driving

Terry, boil the water, don't worry about distilling it. It really won't make much difference. Or, go to Repco or somewhere similar and buy 20 litres of distilled water.

IGA sell it pretty cheap. $1.00 a litre. I've never ever worried about using it anyway but each to their own I guess.

But I bought a water distiller jus for the job ..... well ..... how about I need to practice on water first

I need about 30 ltrs, it starts to get expensive just for water ..... I'll see how much of pain in the butt distilling the water over the smokeless firepit is first ..... then maybe a couple trolley loads from the IGA might be looked at a tad more favourably.

Got the repaired steel pipe and the inlet manifold back on, before the back said it was enough for the day and sent me for a lie down for an hr or 3 Tomorow is another day .... if it isn't, it won't really matter anyway

Sadly, we no long have a roof to catch rain water, unless we rig up something to catch the water off the Winnie roof, but that would stop it from raining in Mannum for yrs

Have you considered Jim the Junior Jeep as a body donor?

As an owner of a little Jimny, I can seriously recommend that any thought of 'EVing' Jim, be discontinued immediately. They lack a certain amount of stability.
The current Jimny model would be a far more suitable project as they are a have a longer wheelbase and a wider track.
Just buy a Tilta trailer and get Jim back on the road and let him follow a big Winnie around. He already has years of experience doing that.

What size tilt trailer did you buy, and how much did it cost? I measured up all the vehicle that could possibly be towed behind the Winnie .... and they all look to need a 16ftcar trailer, or do you just put the wheels on the trailer deck and let the front hang over and the back hang out behind the trailer?

T1, we have the standard single axle Tilta. It weighs 300kg apparently and has a carrying capacity of 1200kg. Which translates to 1500kg total weight. The Jimny is 1060kg tare, and with a full tank and the usual crap I carry around in it, should reach the 1200kg occasionally. Anything much heavier than a Jimny would put it overweight. But Tilta do make a dual axle tilting trailer, that is good for bigger vehicles.
I bought it second hand for $2500, from memory.

Winnie is running again, no water leaks this time YEAH The two silcone reducer hoses and the 4" aluminium joiner with the 1" pipe welded in, all fits up nice, modified the hoses and fittings for the mixer and the A/F ratio control valve so only on hose now and the flow valve fits into the outlet fitting on the converter, all looks fairly neat.

Went to Murray Bridge and bought 2 x 25 ltr water containers , a garden hose and yet another drill pump. Called into Brian's (Homeless and Ruby) houseboat and collected 50 ltrs of tank water he had collected in a 200 ltr drum .... and discovered just how heavy 25 kgs in these days .... when did 25 ltrs of water get so heavy?

Cooling system is now filled with Brian's tank water, let that run around for a while, then drain it and put th antifreeze/anti boil inhibitor and distilled water in ...... and that should be that job taken care of for a while.

With a bit of luck, the battery cells will be here in a week or so, hopefully w ca track down a 12v 5000va inverter at a slightly less insane price, then make up the framework for the solar and fit that up . andall ready to go by xmas .... still working on which yr, but a day has been set
