Inglish as She is Writ

Drop in and dribble on about nothing serious. Seriously a mad place to hang out. Better to avoid it if you're not in the mood!!! If you're determined to be sad, bad, mad & angry then move along!!!

Bruce,
Not enough punctuation to clarify meaning is as great a sin as too much punctuation (ie, 'shotgun' apostrophes)!

Viz:
Famous headline from 1942:
"Allies Push Bottles Up Germans"
No, it's not what you think - no torture involved... :P

It should have been,
"Allies' Push: Bottles Up Germans"

Iza,
I agree with you. Stupid, basic errors in grammar or sentence structure/punctuation show a lack of respect. The writer could not be bothered checking that all is correct before sending off to the client. And the client company is equally culpable for not checking that the language is clear and meaning unmistakable.

Ray

Real estate agents are prone to overblown prose, however, this agent was tripped up by a simple statement:
polished Blackbutt Timber flooring throughout all traffic area's.
(Capitalisation is all over the place, too.)
When will they learn?

I amuse myself by looking for the grammatical stuff ups on the work intranet. Given that its a government department, there is plenty of scope for errors. Nine MSN frequently drops a clanger or two, as well

I can get pretty anil a'bout this a swell, it takes longer to proof a post but it shows a little respect four the reeder i think. Arfter awl you're time is valuable as mutch as mine.

I mean reely, how hard is it to get the apostrophe's in the write plaice. Especially in a Professional Product like adds and sines.

And I really hate the use of TLA's everywhere.

EDIT: He he, I just found this on another thread.

One that gets my goat is when I see draw where it should be drawer. Even see it in furniture shops.

I saw this one yesterday in a technical thread. (Quote) Oil companies spend MILLION's of DOLLAR's on .....(Unquote). Obviously not the sharpest knife in the box so I simply did not read further. Not likely I am going to take any tech advice from this wally.

From today's Bigpond News coverage of the election campaign:
:?
Holding up a mobile phone, he then referenced the Labor leader's profusive use of the device on the campaign trail.

Can anyone translate for me?
