3 New Solar Converts this Week

Post by aussichef »

Still camped here at Parham.S.A. For Drs appointments.
I have people around me running gennys( which I don't have a problem with ) As most aren't as set up, have the knowlage or money to set up as I have.(only live on the pension now)
One couple have been on the road 4 years and have 1 battery and run a 1kva Honda from about 4 PM till about 9pm every day. I have consulted with them, and now have a 200w solar fixed panel,30A controller and another battery. Taking them up to 220a/h
Another couple have been on the road 9 months of a 12 months trip. And have now decided to extend indefiantly. They run a 2.6 kva Kipor for about 6 hours every arvo/evenning. To charge their battery,to run tv and for Waeco freezer they have extra in the pop top . And a 60l Waeco in the Patrol.
They now have 220w portable panel.( as not sure if they are going to upgrade to a full van). 2 new 120a/h battery's . And can charge their van and duel car battery's.
Another couple have duel battery's in their van and never run tv etc during the day, but wanted the same deal on a portable solar panel I got the pop top
Just in speaking during the day and over happy hour. I spoke about if you run your genny every day and spend $5 a day on fuel. That's that's $1850 a year minimum . Let along caravan park fees and limited free camping. And defiantly no National Parks. That statement really hit home with everyone. I don't preach, I only say what works for me . But created work for my self lol . As I ordered panels etc for them online in my name( after getting the money from them ofcourse lol )
All 3 couples have had their systems for only a week . All 3 with different setups and needs.
All can't beleive how not having to run the genny for power, from convenience, peace of mind and simplicity,. The difference , just this past week has made to them. And will make their travelling experience just that much richer. And to use a statement from a good friend of mine . Not have any power pain. And genny is their as back up if needed

Just watch out for the tax man. He will deem you as having had income LOL.It is good to hear that those people have seen the light. I did notice that Jayco last year offered solar as a freebie on vans purchased over a 2 month period. Albeit just a starter pack but a start none the less.

Keep up the good work.

Political Correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.

I'm not making any money, I'm buying them thru my account . And they pay what I do.
I'm not after profit. And won't install anything myself. My 3 forms of arthritis won't permit me too lol .
But as I said earlier. I only advise on what's worked for me. I'm no expert, but over the years have picked up a lot of knowledge. And don't mind passing on that knowledge. We live on the road full time and last year spent a total of 11 days in caravan park of Showground . And that was in Sydney to see my 90y/o father and Nowra Showground to see Barbaras brother? The rest of the year was all free camping . We love our lifestyle and the places and people we meet. Including this forum
