I have a carefree awning on our MH which I believe needs to be re-tensioned. When rolling it up it always needs a little push to get it to roll up to its closed position.
I did see several posts on re-tensioning these awnings on one of the dead forums but can not remember the exact procedure. I believe that the method described was using vice grips to hold the centre shaft and removing the locating pins. I went to a local repairer and he said that to re-tension the awning has to be removed from the MH.
Any advice is appreciated.

Looks like an AE one.
Shonky the awning is only three months old and was like it from new so possibly lack of lubrication is not the problem but I will try some lube to rule it out.
