G'Day All,
Been trying to locate an in line activated charcoal filer for a black and grey tank breather line. Found one some time ago but bloody forgot to bookmark the damn thing. Pretty sure it was in some link about grey water domestic piping. Thought I also saw another on ebay in the motor home search but nothing there the last couple of daysAny one come across these.

Re: Activated charcoal filter.
Dirk try the Pet Shops as they sell the Activated Charcoal Filter Pads for fish tanks/aquariums. These might help as I use them in my SOG toilet fan system for filters.
Cheers Kev.

Re: Activated charcoal filter.
G'Day Kev,
Thanks for that, was laying awake last night thinking about making one up myself out of PVC tubing. I had seen the charcoal loose in bags so figured this would but the filter pads you suggest would be way better. I was going to add one of those solar/battery powered roof vents, as the breather pipe is reasonably long so would need some sort of extraction fan I would think.
Thanks again for the suggestion.

Another thougt is visit a homebrew shop. They have granulated carbon and you could repack your unit.

If I went to a home brew shop I would wind up buying more than charcoal..... but it is another source, thanks for that.

Just in case someone wanted one of these filters, Bias Boating have them. Knew I had come across them somewhere before. Old age and bad memory struck again.....

Hi Dirk,
Are you planning on fitting this filter to the tanks breather that terminates on the roof? If so, why?

G'Day Craig,
Yes the roof vent breather pipe is for the black and grey tanks. Where I have to locate the outlet is reasonably close to the bathroom and kitchen roof vents. Didn't want the smell finding its way into the bus so when I saw one of these charcoal vents some time ago and thought they would be a good option. Didn't want the breather pipe terminating under the bus either for much the same reasons.

Re: Activated charcoal filter.
That's a different approach, hadn't thought of that one. In the big bus, the grey and black tank will vent inside the rangehood exhaust vent pipe through the roof. My plan was to have a small exhaust fan in the top of the vent, under the chinaman's hat, running 24/7, so the air was always moving out to reduce the possibility of a reverse flow of air and hopefully help meet the gas regulation requirements.

G'Day Terry,
I am going to fit one of those oyster shaped exhaust fans, the ones with the little solar panel and battery that run 24/7. I did hear of roof vented pipes pressurizing the black/grey tsanks when under way. No experience of this myself, still a work in progress but I guess it could happen.
Those bloody gas regs. are a real pain.
