Moving west from Albany to the Treetop Walk and Giant Tingle trees near Walpole were a 'must see' for this retired forester! I can certainly recommend them, but be warned - they need high rainfall so I got a bit wet, but with some good breaks between showers and an excellent raincoat the rains were manageable.
Then on to Shannon NP for four (wet) days. It is a very nice campground with hot showers! The campsite is on the townsite of the old timber town of Shannon and while all houses etc. no longer remain, many of the exotic trees planted during earlier habitation remain to make it a pretty setting.
I'm now in Manjimup and from here will meander on down through Pemberton visiting more of these magnificent forests and National Parks! So much to see in WA, and I haven't left the south of the state yet!

A great place to visit is Balingup , great spot for a short stay at the Transit Area.
Then up the hill to Grimwade.
It's a now closed logging camp that has a quite an interesting history and being an ex Forrester you could relate to a lot of it.
We camped there late last year and never had the time to get to see it all so we'll be back again.

Loki,
While in Manjimup, drop in to the Forestry Centre and have a squiz at the wood-turning club's set-up. Amazing!
Local council & forestry industry are keen supporters. They have either six or eight club-owned lathes! My home club has one - donated from a deceased estate. And we have 65 members...
