My little trip last week

Drop in and dribble on about nothing serious. Seriously a mad place to hang out. Better to avoid it if you're not in the mood!!! If you're determined to be sad, bad, mad & angry then move along!!!

My little trip last week

Post by esros »

hi folks - on Monday, my neighbours over the road in their motorhome, and me with my dog and budgy in my motorhome, had a wonderful 4 days away - only did just over 500 kms, but Monday, drove to GinGin and then north 30kms before heading west up to Kalpower and camped in the Kalpower forest! Had a great campfire that night - and then through the night - the temp got down to 3.9 degrees!!! On Tuesday, we drove to Mungungo and then headed north to the abandoned goldfield of Monal - the sign said 4wd only - but our motorhomes are high clearance and we took it steady - talked to the council workers who were just grading the road!! They said as long as we took it easy, we'll be ok - and so it was 2nd gear job most of the 40kms - but was beautiful! There was water in the Monal creek which was surprising. On Wednesday, we drove down the fantastic steep range to Many Peaks - my exhaust brakes held me beautifully in 2nd gear, but my friends had to stay in first as they don't have exhaust brakes. We called in at the Ubobo discovery centre but it wasn't manned at that time - as we want to find out more about finding the track to walk the 6 tunnels on the disused railway. In the meantime, I've been in touch with the guy who's campaigning to keep it, so will find out all I need to know on Sunday when I catch up with him. If they can fight the 'powers to be' and keep the railway - it would be a great tourist trip from Gladstone up to Monto! We stayed at Boyensdale before driving home on Thursday! I have been towing caravans since I was 20 - but at the moment, I'm keeping the motorhome as I just love driving it! :) Esme

WoW!!!
What a wonderful trip Esme!!! I'm impressed that you would take your budgie with you as well!
I've often thought about taking my gold fish with me! ;) ;)
I suggested to Wendy that we could let it loose in our water tank!
Do you have some photos of the country that you travelled through?

actually, the budgy was very comical - I had a special small cage for him for little trips, and it was strapped into the passenger seat, and as we were going over the dirt roads etc., he insisted on staying on his swing - talk about a washing machine ride!!~ He was chatting away merrily - but I learnt after the first day, to take his mirror with 2 bells down and lie it on the floor as the bells would hit him on the head and he'd spit the dummy!! :) Luckily I had a big beach towel under and behind his cage, as all his seed and sand was OUT of the cage!! LOL I put cottonwool balls in the water pot to stop the sloshing - that worked well. Esme

Esme you're more than welcome to pop them up in the photo album.
http://www.ozervnews.com/gallery
Once you find your way around it's quite easy.
It is best to resize all the photos that you intend uploading to about 800 X 600 or so first or you'll take forever and use up all your data.
I'm not sure of your computer skills but you can't break anything playing around!! ;) ;)
First step will be to go to MY PROFILE & create an album. Give it a name like "October Mountain Trip" or something.
See how you go.

Yes, it's a bit hidden.
When you get to the first "home" page in the Gallery you'll see an item called "USER GALLERIES". (above the recent additions)
Once in there you will see each individual members gallery.
Must see if I can create an icon to put there.
