"tanks" is about to move again
"tanks" here--
MOVEMENT ORDER --- SIT REP---
I am almost ready to depart MARYBOROUGH Qld, on my return trip to W.A. I'm waiting for the next Saturday ALDI Sale
as there is still a little room in the trailer for the latest purchases.
My plan is to leave Maryborough on/about 3rd October, and head to COOYAR [near Kingaroy] to visit my old mate the RSM, Les "Ripa" Riley, for a few days to chat about old times in 1st Armoured Regiment, and 2/14 Q.M.I., and share a few Sherbets as we relive the 1950-60's era.
I will see the Melbourne Cup while there, and then head for the West on 5th or 6th October, via Dubbo, Broken Hill etc.
If you see me on the road just call me on UHF Ch 40 and we can have-a-chat and a cuppa.
DOT:-- I may get to call in on you if time is not the problem, but I do want to get across the Nullabor Plains before the December heat and the head winds hit me. Now that
I am towing a trailer now, so I don't know how this will effect my speed.
I expect that the Sprinter will use more diesel, and the 9.6 l/km will increase with the additional weight of the trailer and Aldi Specials I have collected over the past months while I have been in Maryborough.
I may be out of range for then Laptop and Mobile phone to work, but Telstra hhave coverage when I am passing thru some /most of the towns.
Keith

Re: "tanks" is about to move again
BernieQ--Sorry that we could not meet and greet. I was at the Station Sq complex and then I went to Aldi for my last "fix".
The Goodwins called in at my Sisters' place, and we had a relaxing meet & greet session in the afternoon. It was good to put faces to people whom I have had contact with on the Forum over the past months. Perhaps we can arrange a meeting on my next trip, sometime during year 2014 after I have the Iveco ready for the long road.
I have re-packed the trailer with the latest purchases and made everything waterproof ready for the trip back to WA.
BRING ON THE RAIN !!; THE COUNTRY NEEDS IT AS EVERYTHING IS SO DRY.
Thanks to those Forum Members who have wished me safe travel.

"tanks" here---
Letting all of you know that I have arrived back in WA, after a safe and [rather fast] uneventful trip from Maryborough Qld, to Wyalkatchem WA.
The Sprinter went along ok even towing the trailer with all of the ALDI purchases. Fuel consumption was around anything from 8.2 l/100km up to 9.6 l/100km, depending on head winds.
A new tyre at Coburg to replace the front drivers' side tyre which threw the tread. The tyre bloke told me that a lot of caravans and motorhomes have this problem ==BUT -- it is the DUNLOP TYRE that is the problem.
I had him take the OffSide front tyre off and replace it. No more Dunlop for me.

Good to see you got back safely Keith!

If it's Cobar you are referring to Keith, the hot roads out that way really take their toll on tyres. I think a lot of the trucks avoided that road if they could for the same reason.
On two separate occasions I have gone through to the canvas on a perfectly good motor bike tyre on the stretch from Wilcannia back into Cobar, I've stopped going that way now and go through Wagga way to save on tyres, although insane speeds could have had a lot do with it as well

Thanks T1-Terry, It was COBAR NSW,--[-C.B.Tyres was the supplier and they gave me a very nice biro pen]. My speeds were only around 85-90 max and it was not very hot. I stop every hour for "Russell" to mark his progress, and move my legs a bit, so there should not be too much heat build-up in the tyres----I don't trust Dunlop anymore going on what the tyre man told me.
Its good to be back home and consider all of the jobs I have to do around the houses after being away for almost 6 months. Not bad for a weekend trip to see the g/kids, but I have enjoyed it all and now I can start getting the IVECO made into a motorhome. The ALDI Mig Welder will come in handy and I have had 3 lessons already, so now I can be a welding expert, as well as a mechanic, and an auto electrician, and roadside chef.
