JAYCO SHOWER SCREENS

Post by Kelvin12 »

G'Day All,

Anyone had any trouble with the Jayco shower cubicle cracking along the vertical edges at the shower entry. Ours hasn't been used used yet and today I noticed numerous horizontal cracks appearing on the edges of the unit. These shower are plastic and shouldn't suffer from this problem as far as I can see.

The more we hear that "J" word the more  I become. Not good enough esp when things have not been used at all. Dirk do you mean a complete pre formed unit or just the door that is the problem?. We used aqua panel on the walls, a domestic shower base and the door is a safety glass like in houses.

G'Day Dot,

Its one of the complete cubicles, 3 sides, floor and roof and the frosted acrylic door that rotates on a track. They are used in almost all the Jayco range. Probably not a lot I can do with Jayco now as its been around 2 years ago I installed it into the bus. If I can't rectify it myself I'll just have to pull the bloody thing out sooner or later as I reckon the cracks will progress further and further into the walls. I hate this sort of stuff as this thing cost around the $1,600 to buy in the first place.

Give them a try anyway plus give consumer a call not as though it has been left outside in the weather all that time..

Yes was thinking that. I have posted on a Jayco site that's supposed to be monitored by them so will see where that goes.

I hate this you buy what is supposed to be a good recognized unit and it turns out to be a problem. I'll bet I am not the only one. Others have been complaining about the track breaking away, same unit, so something must be wrong with the quality of the plastic.

I must say that we got fantastic after warranty service from Air Command with our air cond. They didn't even bother to quibble that it was 6 mths out of warranty when we found a small fault with the thermostat. That is one of the problems we face when we have to fit stuff into our rigs before they ever get used.

Dirk, May I suggest you contact Watsons at Port or Coffs? They have a great reputation for their warranty work and helping even when out of warranty. There are other agents for the product who don't have the same great service recommendations, so leave them alone.
Let us know how you get on, lots of luck.
Deborah

(yes we own a junco van, but so far it has been wonderful, we aint complaining out loud yet)

Hi Deborah,

I actually bought the shower from Jayco at Coffs, they are just up the road from us. I'll take some photos and go and see them. They have always been friendly enough when I have been buying so hopefully they can suggest something. Thanks for you reply and I'll let you know how I go.

Not a lot of interest let alone help from Watsons, Coffs Harbour. Suggested sealing cracks with silicone...... Sent email photos as requested after my visit a week ago but not even an acknowledgment, so another short reminder today then if nothing happens its onto Fair Trading. I think even some sort of notice to say we are looking into it would have been common courtesy.
