Saw a notice on a large motor home side window near the door, "Pet On Board". Reckon this is a good idea in the event of an accident as the pet might panic and hide and be overlooked or take off into the bush. I can imagine something like that happening with our little bloke being really timid of strangers.

That depends whether said pets are cats or dogs.

Dogs travel with Human, where cats permit their servant Humans to travel with them and do the mundane tasks such as driving, cooking,cleaning and finding appropriate places for toilet duties. Much like how the Tudor Kings traveled with their servants.

When we travel Miss Meow has her collar and bell on just in case plus I think all travelling animals should be micro chipped with up to date details.
