UPDATE--"TANKS" NEW CAR FREEZER ARRIVED
"tanks" here---
I am very pleased that the new Car Freezer/Fridge arrived at the local P.O. this morning. I received an e-mail from AustPost Tracking informing me that the consignment was awaiting collection.
ACTION:-
Right "Russell", don't worry about the cats; get into the Jag and lets go to the P.O. fast.
I lifted the carton without any difficulty, [it only weighs 19 kg] and I loaded it onto the rear seat of the Jag. The Jag has had a lot more weight on the back seat than this freezer---some of it almost as cold !
I unpacked the unit from the carton - it was well packed for transport and did not suffer any damage; even though it was involved in the Freight Train Crash/derailment in S.A. (they do do unusual things in S.A.)
After reading the How-To Instruction booklet I had it plugged in, switched on, temp set at minus 20 c., set the Battery Low Level Cut-Out Protection switch to the recommended position, and I had it running in all of about 4 minutes. Not a lot in the Instruction Booklet---simple things for simple people.
I checked the LCD Temp Display after only one hour---It was reading -20c, as per the target temp I had set. I could have set the read-out to (F) instead of (C), but being modern I now prefer to work in (C), although I still have a bit of trouble working out feet and inches in relation to mm's, cm's, --but I do understand km's.
THIS IS ONE HAPPY CHAPPY !!!.
I now have loaded the Weis Bars and Ice Cream into the freezer for the ultimate test.
The Freezer is a Mishto manufacture 2014 Year Model : S55 Litre, with all of the latest tech that is exported out of China
The cost with courier delivery was $399.00

Minus 20 will give your batteries a workout. I set ours at around minus 14 or 15 when we were free camping.

"tanks" here Craig-- I intend to operate the freezer on (-) 14c when I am on the road and in camping areas. I don't want the Weis Bars to be too hard. I will have to put my teeth in and I don't want to wear them out too fast; they cost me half a fortune !

I just set the thermo at that level to see how long, how fast etc. The unit has switched to Econ Mode now and is as quiet as a Vestal Virgin at prayer.

"tanks" here-- No mate, at first for a little while it was making a slight whur noise but it is very quiet.
It has now switched itself to Economy mode, which reduces the motor revs.
The full tech specs are listed on the Sellers' page on e-Bay. [bit_deals] and this gives all of the info on the compressor.

"tanks" here George, I will work on it over the next few days; but the 1st test is to get the Weis Bars just right.
The Ice Cream is for the luscious Kensington Pride (Bowen) Mangos and the sliced Peaches for desert, or while Dot is doing the washing in her u-beaut washing machine when we are at "THE CAMPSITE"..

I'm still trying to find out if George has installed a Vacuum Cleaner.
