CRAIG --Where are You .?.
"tanks" here Craig---Are you still at the sharp end or have you moved away from the cyclones. Are you thinking of heading towards Maryborough. Have a look at STANDOWN PARK on your computer Website thing. It may be worth considering a month or two, about 1 hour drive South of Maryborough Qld. The place is now OPEN to/for the public, and very reasonable rates. Extra good facilities. Their website has lots of good pics of the area and facilities. STANDOWN was originally developed for Ex-Servicemen.
Keith.
I'm now 87 years old, having experienced another birthday, and I'm still living in WA, single (gave up looking), white hair, no teeth, no money, no worries.
I plan to have another birthday next year.

We are currently at Standown Park and will be for the foreseeable future. It's a great spot and we are enjoying our unpowered site at $18pn with water.

"Swisslulu" - Do they have an organised type 'Happy Hour" there, and what are the other "residents" like. From all reports the Mamagement are greast people and easy to get along with.

Hi Keith,
We are still in Cairns. We will be here for a few months. I have been thinking of heading up to the Cape when I finish this work contract in June. Cheryl said she won't be coming
. Then making our way to Victoria for Xmas. These are very loose plans and are subject to my contract being extended.
Standown park looks pretty good, we will have to give it a try when we head that way.

Re: CRAIG --Where are You .?.
Keith, there is a communal camp fire each night in the only authorised fire pit (pine forest on two sides). I cooked our lamb shanks in the camp oven in it the night before last. Yummy! Great hosts, although they have been away for a week or so for an Anzac reunion, but very good stand-in caretakers. Quite a few regulars who spend extended periods here. Everyone very friendly that we have met. Over Easter we avoided Happy Hour as there were just too many people. Discounts for Veterans and CMCA members.

$$126 per week with all of those facilities sounds like I have to turn Left when I leave the Karratha WA site, sometime after Winter.
Being ex-service I get good rates for long term, and I am almost committed to get over there.
Aldi in Maryborough is a great attraction, plus one of my Sisters lives in Maryborough; only 1 hour drive away from STANDOWN PARK.

If you do get back over here, Keith, give us a shout. We will be living at Tinana by then.

"tanks" here--- Thanks, we could talk about this when I meet you at Cleaverville if you make it there. Rod Goodwin also lives at Tinana. Do you come in contact with Rod and his Wife in your travels. Rod posts on AustraliaMotorhomers Forum, and has offered me parking on his large holding; however the Standown Park is the place I will long term it for a few months when I get over there and it's only 1 hour drive up to Maryborough.
Suggestion:- From Maryborough/Tinana, if you are considering the Cleaverville trip for Dots' Great Shave and Forum Members Winter/Spring gathering, you could marry-up somewhere in or near Alice Springs with Dot & George plus the pussies, Chuck & Catrina, and a possibly few others of the Forum mob who are going to come over through the Centre route around August sometime. This trip would be like a Club Surfari without the thousands of dollars cost. FOOD FOR THOUGHT--Planted the seed !

Re: CRAIG --Where are You .?.
We were going to head back to the east via the central road last November but when we got to Laverton and spoke to several people who had come across from the Centre we decided to give it a miss. It might be ok if you have 22 inch wheels and coach suspension. They told us it was very corrugated. I'm guessing you are talking about the great central road?
