OK, we've never owned one and I've never seen one being used so I'm after some opinions please.
Rather than buy a machine that does half the job I'd rather get a good one to start off with.
Prefer not to get a real complicated one & have to keep power consumption in the mix as well.
Anyone like to tell us what you have, your comments on it & perhaps which one you SHOULD have bought?
Thankyou!

Re: Bread Maker?
Some people love them, I had one & gave it away, most of them don't make a very big loaf. I prefer to buy a loaf. I must add I only ever used mine at home.

Re: Bread Maker?
I have one sitting on the top shelf in the pantry that you are welcome to try before you buy. I have used it a few times, it does from go to woe but I think the hardest thing is finding the bread mix you like. You know where we live but need time to put the scones in the oven.

Re: Bread Maker?
The machines make yummy bread that you can't stop eating, however, the bread generates gas after it's eaten. I think the yeast isn't worked over properly before and during cooking.

Re: Bread Maker?
Ours is a Breville, makes great bread, made a loaf as a demo at a Taggerty get together a few yrs back using a cheapie evilbay 1000w inverter and a 12v lithium battery. It has the fruit and nut hopper that adds those ingredients before the second kneading for sweet fruit loaf or cheese and stuff for savoury loaves, makes 3 different size loaves and 4 different crusts, plus can just make the dough for buns etc if you want to cook them in an oven on a tray. I think we've had it for around 10 yrs, works great every time

Re: Bread Maker?
I have the Wittle one as I like to make my loaf and then eat it that day.
Nothing like watching the Bathurst etc and the smell of bread cooking and then eat it with copious amounts of butter.
For you in the HB would be great as you can have bread when you want but it is not that much cheaper if you buy and happy with cheap bread.
Check the flours out as with all things there is flour and flour. Keep the remaining flour in a air tight container as stale flour makes horrible bread.
I carry mine in the trailer now and use it for a novelty or when I run out of bread. Nothing like having the bread maker going as well as the slow cooker and then have the coffee machine alongside them while sitting by the bus.
The main flour I like is LAUKE ( i think that is how it is spelt.) They have different flavors as well such as white wholemeal etc
Regards
Brian

Re: Bread Maker?
We simply have a bread tin and make our own in the gas oven. We have started using the pre mix now rather than scratch baking. Once we mix the dough we place the bread in the tin and cover with a tea towel and then place it in the car (in the sun) to prove. Works a treat.
