tomcarm's Lithium Project

Post by tomcarm »

After 24 hours of switching to the full T1Lithium management system, no
problems of any sort - at all!
Batteries at 13.3V with each of the four cells at 3.3V.
Usage of electricity within the van was generously done - almost as if 240V
were available.

After second night, the feeling of 'having the electricity to relax is palpable!

Tom , what did U fit ?

When my AGM's kark it I'll be pestering T1, and anyone else that has them , for advise on what to fit and anything else I might need.

So any advise that's posted I sorta file away in the brain for later reference.

Coolibah 1, yes other forums have info but there seemed to me that too many egos kept getting in the way of worthwhile information on some of them.
Hopefully, on this forum, there will only be intelligent forward thinking discussion that accepts the rightful place of LiFePO4 batteries being the legitimate replacement for the decades outdated lead acid batteries. (Of course in the future LiFePO4 will be supplanted by the next generation thinking - but hopefully not as long as it took the lead acid dinosaurs to be replaced.)

We have more Lithium to do and have researched widely - that's why we contacted T1 Terry and commissioned him to work with us on our project. Terry & I (& Brian) share the thinking, Terry does 99% of the work and Carmel controls 100% of the funding ... Suits me!

From what I am reading, others have the LiFePO4 batteries right BUT will probably find their management system will fail them...

More info from anybody, please ...
This project is very exciting!!!

Had ours up about 18 months now, love em. Heater, air, whatever we need. I need about 500w portable solar extra, and it will be air via solar only, and still have full batteries at the end of the day.

Glad everything is working OK Tom.
Yard filled up again (you just got out didn't you, before Eddie drove over or under you LOL.)
Very interesting watching the other forums doing their witch hunt and seeking the info they could have had for nothing.
They told me to use mine for 5 years before I came back so still have nearly 2 years to go but GEE I think I have forgotten everything.
I am a bit dense as you know as I keep using all these things that the experts know I cant, but still I will just keep using them and having a ball till I see that I cant. THEY may even accept defeat yet and realise that perhaps I can run the gear I do.
Pity you did not get to see the aircon working but perhaps next time if I am here.
Is Carmel still looking for more gear to run or has she done the big shop to get all her 240v appliances. Sorry 230v, just as well the electric police are not here.

Just finished a small install of 200amh Lithium system with Terry and Eddie's help. I made up a few stuff up but Eddie and Terry would get me back on track and then Terry would try to confuse me again  Too much information for a brain dead person  Now to test it properly in the next few weeks and I will report back. So far great except for my little accident today when I shorted out a Solid State Relay, was moving a support bracket but forgot to turn the Solar off, lots of smoke. Now have to get another one and refit, system still working.
On the road full time, sometimes?????

Ok so if one was to consider this way to go how do you know what is what and what is needed eg, solar panels, how many, how many batteries, how to look after them, Have tried to google Lithium but the most I know of Lithium is it is a drug  :? :? Reading all these posts means nothing to the likes of me?? Alright to say ask Terry but time is time and I doubt he would have any to spare just to answer q's like mine.

You need to know how much power you use a day in amps like fridge , tv , hair dryer , and lights so when you get a list it's of amp say for average day 100 amp then you work from there like how much solar you need to run things this is a very rough idea of what you would need ok
