Gas Bayonet on Jayco Sterling

Post by dcsingos »

Had a quote today in NSW to get a gas bayonet fitted just below the gas bottles in the boot. Nearly had a heart attack $600. plus to do it, apparently we need a gas fitter to make a new licence for the fitting and then the licence. Parts cost is $120. Labour $100. Paperwork $380.00 what a load of BS

Visit your local licenced plumber. The bayonet can be bought for less than $20.00. A bit of copper tubing and probably an hour or so labour for the plumber - and he should include a certificate.

And they wonder why people do this stuff themselves. I know its a safety issue and needs to be done by a licensed tradie but this sort of money grabbing is beyond it.

Who did the quote? a plumber or a caravan repairs joint? I had a gas bayonet fitted to my existing gas line by a licensed gas fitter, I supplied the fitting and he fitted it and supplied a certificate for under $100

Jayco Caravans in Albury, I am lead to believe that it would be cheaper in QLD or VIC as NSW is just over the top with Paperwork and over charging. I bought a Bayonet fitting cost me $25.00 and hopefully I can get some copper pipe and fittings while I am in Wollongong and I can get it fitted up at T1's or at my mates place down at Lake Conjola.

Got Bayonet fitted down at Lake Conjola, cost me a case of Beer. I supplied all the pipe and fittings, took half hour to fit up and test. So in total it cost me $110.00.
