Leckie jobs for cash?

Post by shonky »

HI, all.

So we're at Chatsworth and a fellow traveller expresses interest in my Enerdrive VSR,( I carry a couple of spares), and b4 you know it I'm under his motorhome threading 6B&S cable etc and was given a nice amount of folding money in appreciation. So ten minutes later Mrs shonky comes over - "There's a solo mother over there with a wiring problem and I told her you would fix it for free!" A as in one wiring problem? Pretty sure I came out even, but who's counting?

The road is a great place to be on, isn't it.

I have an Enerdrive VSR between the vehicle battery and the deep cycle battery in the toad, and a Redarc VSR in the motorhome. The advantage of the Enerdrive is that it will connect with increased voltage from either direction (the car alternator can begin charging the deep cycle or the solar charged deep cycle can charge the car battery) whereas the motor home solar charged house battery can only charge the vehicle battery if I manually connect it.

Hi, all

The Enerdrive keeps both battery groups charged after 13.3v has been reached which is great if one is parked up for a couple of weeks. Wouldn't be without it.

On an earlier post I mentioned the possibilities of hooking up a "dumb" charger through the PL40 and having the Projecta 25amp charger direct to the batteries. The other day the batteries - 4*125amp AGMs - were a bit low, so I gave them both chargers - for 20 minutes they were receiving 65amps but dropped to a more reasonable 50amps for an hour or so, with my turning the genny off when the AGMs reached the "absorb" stage. I'm happy with that.

Some Redarc VSR’s can do this too. They have a ‘D’ suffix, stands for ‘dual sensing’. I had a 24v SBI24D in my bus.

I think I might change the Redarc in the Motorhome. It is stored undercover with a portable solar panel out in the sun. Sometimes when I return to the MH the vehicle and house batteries will be connected and sometimes they won't - presumably based on how long a period there was without sun. However, with the redarc that is installed, once separated the batteries will never reconnect.
