windscreen solar sheeting

Drop in and dribble on about nothing serious. Seriously a mad place to hang out. Better to avoid it if you're not in the mood!!! If you're determined to be sad, bad, mad & angry then move along!!!

windscreen solar sheeting

Post by Kelvin12 »

G'Day All,

Can anyone steer me in the right direction for the solar windscreen insulation stuff, the silver stuff that rolls up and you fasten it to the windscreen generally on the inside and on side windows. sort of a silver quilted material. Not interested in the Solar mob that make the stuff up, looking for it in meters to DIY.

That solar screen mob sell it for $100mt he gets it by the 30mt roll from Italy if you have a shipping agent over there it is one hell of a lot cheaper... OR you can get onto the sewing machine using the bubble insulation that also megabucks cheaper.

Try bunnings for a silver backed bubble insulation.

Works real well I'm told, cheap, comes in rolls, 1m by 7m for about 100 bucks if I remember.

The stuff from Bunnings is called Air Cell retro shield. works fine as single layer but a doubled layer with bubble wrap in the centre and edged with the silver foil adhesive tape used by the insulation mobs works brilliant, it's available from Bunnings as well.

Good timing. In the process of making some up at the moment but now trying to find suitable little suction cups. Any ideas?

Thanks crew,

The made up stuff is way over the top, as usual. I'll check into Bunnings. Got an inquiry in the US at the moment. Will let you know the outcome, got to be a hell of a lot cheaper than here.

The clips looks a lot like stuff from Whitworths Marine but would need to be stuck to the windscreen unless you wedge it in place as Dapope says. Actually like that idea more than things stuck to the screen.

I paid about $5 each for mine some time ago. Sewed 2 together to get the width.
