Balmoral, Victoria, West of the Grampians. an RVFriendly Destination
The Township has recently opened an RV Friendly Township Campground, right in the Village Square. We arrived Yesterday and were welcomed as we setup camp. As we walked down the Main Street, we were greeted by friendly locals, all pleased that we were visiting them. We learnt that this is a recent initiative for the Town, and we were the first visitors. Today they honoured us with a gift pack to celebrate being the first Visitors to use their new facility. There are new public toilets on the drawing board, and potable water is available in the village centre. There is a good Hotel selling meals and takeaways, a Caravan Park with takeaway food and good coffee, a beautiful little post office, gift shops and nice walks about Town, and the nearby Rocklands recreational Lake. The Glenelg River and Rocklands also offers camping opportunities.
If you are looking for a friendly village to stay in, where you are sure to be appreciated, please don't overlook Balmoral in Western Victoria. This is a truly RV Friendly destination.

Re: Community Appreciation
Sounds like a real beauty Jon, might show my local council what they are missing out on . Q/ What was in the "welcome pack" any grog, chocolates, you know the sort of thing?

Re: Community Appreciation
We were very spoiled Dot...made me feel nearly human
and humble.
The Secretary of the local committee who owns the local post office had our gifts piled high, like BBQ rugs, Series of books, postcards, a thank-you letter, posters, lollies etc, etc.
I guess you get that sort of treatment wherever you go
It got close to bettering my welcome to Kingston SE...very close.

Re: Community Appreciation
Too much competition for me Jon!!!
Did you go through Harrow on your way to Balmoral?
Interesting little hamlet........ takes you back to 'yesterday' .........
Little park (caravan etc) at the end of the main street.
Are you booked in to Horsham yet?
Let me know if you need any 'assistance' in Horsham.........

Re: Community Appreciation
Of course Dot
Thanks Bruce , there are so many interesting places I have been to on our way to Balmoral. Today we headed South...there are bushfires to the North of Balmoral, and it is in a bushfire prone area. I just received a copy of the inclusion in the next Balmoral Newspaper. We will have to charge more for future interviews

Balmoral Welcomes Our First RV Campers
By Clare Ryan
Soon after Balmoral’s RV Friendly Destination status was approved by the Campervan and Motorhome Club of Australia, our first visitors arrived.
Official RV signs went up just before Christmas, and on 5 January Jon and Kay Burn and Lady, their Jack Russell terrier, pulled in with their motorhome and set up in Balmoral Mural Square.
Jon and Kay are seasoned full time travelers, having been on the road from Port Macquarie NSW for the past six years. I asked them how they discovered Balmoral and what brought them here.
Jon said “I do some mapping work for the Campervan and Motorhome Club and was aware of Balmoral’s new RV status. We hadn’t been to this part of the world before, and knowing you were an RV Friendly Destination was a big incentive for us to visit. The free camping space here is convenient and close to amenities. Everything is within easy walking distance”.
Jon and Kay also commented that Balmoral Mural Square is an ideal space to accommodate their large motorhome. Kay said “Everyone in Balmoral is very welcoming and friendly” and she was delighted to receive a bag of fresh- picked fruit left on their doorstep by a passerby.
On behalf of the Balmoral and District Development Association, I was honoured to make a fuss of Jon and Kay, presenting them with a welcome pack of Post Office and Gift Store products and local information.

Re: Community Appreciation
A lot of towns could take a page or two from the hospitality of the Balmoral township and forward thinking councillor's.
Will try and put Balmoral on our plans while in Victoria this year.
Bernie.
