Don't throw the old awning out!

Post by shonky »

Hi, all.

Parked at Bingara recently, on the river, and had the Fiamma awning well pegged down, with a 6mm rope across the awning as a tensioner. Sometime that night the big bloke upstairs decided to send a gust down on the awning, twisting the arms in funny angles and driving one supporting tent pole 30cm into the dirt. Next morning a new one was purchased from those guys in Gympie and picked up in Texas 4 days later. BTW I asked to have it despatched to Mitee 10 and let them know a few days later - no probs at all. Great people in Texas.

Now Fiammas don't have an anti-flapper, but using the old legs and rafters it's possible to fabricate new rafters and clamps at each end which actually work well in theory.

FYI the Fiamma awnings sit on three flanges, and are fixed in place by self tappers. To remove the old one take out the old screws, lift and pull the base out and upwards, which will lift the old awning off the top of the flanges. Easy as, if somebody shows you.
See you on the back roads,
