G,Day All
I have a problem with my desk top PC, the cd player tray will not open, all it does is make a clunck sound several times over when I try to open it using a program like Nero, I have tried all that I know with no success, I have gone to the device manager and it says that it is operating normal, I tried to find a new driver the computer says that I have the best one suitable for my machine, any suggestions to try and fix welcome.
Cheers
Chris

Re: CD Player
Assuming it's Windows, open File Explorer and see if the device is there. If so, click on it and see if there is an "Eject" option in the drop down menu. Failing that, if you have access to the body of the CD drive, there will be a little pin hole which a straightened paper clip can be inserted. This SHOULD open the gate.Keevo52 wrote:...I have gone to the device manager and it says that it is operating normal...
Otherwise a bigger screwdriver may be necessary.

Experience is a wonderful thing. It helps you recognise a mistake when repeated.

Re: CD Player
Might pay to use the paper clip with the computer switched off.
As Brad said .... the little hole is in the front bezel where the writing is.
I'd suggest something is worn or dry inside it.
Sometimes a little help with a finger nail will open it as you click eject.
