Windows 10

Has anyone downloaded Windows 10 (as offered by MS for free)? What do you think of it? Can it be removed if downloaded and go back to Windows 7?

Jim I have heard of many that have done the update but I've heard of more than one that wishes they didn't do it.
I know I won't be doing mine until another 6 months or so.
I believe you can revert back but that is assuming the update went OK but you just didn't like it.
The biggest problem I've heard of is when the install fails halfway through and you can't even boot up to go back.
I think Shirley is one in that category?
I'm not sure what equipment you own or can get your hands on, but I suggest you (if you can) do a mirror image of your HD onto another identical HD of the same size and make.
Couple of screws & you're back to the original setup.

I actually "ticked" to be advised when the update was available, but not to auto install. Looking back it appears that since the time that MS advised that 10 was now available to download I have not received any updates (which used to come along every few days) for Win 7. Getting in touch with MS to question that is like winning lotto - when you don't buy a ticket...it doesn't happen.
Another thing that I wanted to find out is how to get to get rid/delete the "update" which now lurks in the corner.

Isn't Win 10 one of those new idea pay every yr or it locks up systems? they offer it free and in 12 mths time you have to pay a user fee ( ransom) by the due date or the only window you get is the link to pay your renewal fee. Sort of a crypto-locker virus on a mass scale

No one seems to know for sure but there will be a huge outcry if that happens.
Well I guess it depends on the price as well.
If it's only $25 or maybe even $40 a year people won't mind that much but if they try to set the payment too high ($150) there will be even more move away.
I was VERY interested to see what operating systems and browsers members of this forum are using.

if you build a new computer, its 150 for windoze 10. My understanding is thats its free for windows 8 users because it was such a monumental fail. and free for 7 users as well. I have not seen anything from MS too say that it would be strting a user pays system. Remember, MS lost a lot of goodwill, and they are trying to rebuild that. No, I havent upgraded either, its on the maybe list. I put a menu shell on my windows 8 and it was nearly like 7 again. :)

I've been using Windows 10 for nearly 3 months. It fixes most Windows 'issues' from previous versions.
It is a nearly flawless upgrade system, that said, mine updated immediately, Kay's had to have some 'prompting'. Part of the process is ensuring that your device drivers are also up to date, so it provides a system audit.
I would have to recommend it from my own experience.

Why don't they just allow those that want to go back to XP ?
Never had any computer problems till this crappy w8.
Since w8 I run out of data , never happened before so its using my money and I don't get the benefit .

Dit toe - seems to be less drama, but I've got a 7 shell too.

1) MS do not support XP anymore. You can probably purchase a copy off eBay etc.
2) Perhaps Win 10 is your solution for this issue.

dawg (not Win10 ten)
