Terry the Toad

Post by Boblebago »

After 360000km and travelling to every state in Australia, partly behind the bus, we are sad to advise the demise of Terry the Toad aka T1. We were expecting the gear box to give in but it was the timing belt that took him in the end RIP T1 you served us well.

So where is T1 now? I'm guessing the valves hit the pistons so a full set of valves required, but what other damage?

T1 is on the front lawn. Not sure about pistons only happened this afternoon on way home on Military Road West Beach near where Steve is staying, had I known he was there could have had a chat while waiting for tow truck.
The plan at the moment is to scrap him after transfering the front seats and towbar back to T2 and also the front towing hitch. The gear box was whining badly in all gears except 4th and the motor was making odd sounds and I have been waiting for something to give.

I would be very interested in purchasing the front indicators and headlights if possible, ours are very secondhand and could do with replacing. Steve...

Sounds like the famous analysis by Ian Geoghan (Who? 'Sixties sedan racer!) of an engine failure in his V8 Ford Galaxy at the (now defunct) Katoomba circuit,
"We had a slight electrical problem: a conrod came through the side of the block and knocked the distributor off."

Would I have had to hide my Terios around the other side of the MH?
Mine has done 90,000k with about 30,000 behind the MH.

Pete was a real character that's for sure, he drove a boss Mustang for many yrs and the battles between Pete and Alan Moffett were legendary stuff to watch. I thought it was a starter motor the con rod took out, I did a similar thing with a Holden 6cy on a run up the freeway into Liverpool

:o They are bittsing it already, similar to what the crows will do when the other T1 fails to proceed  What condition is the rest of the vehicle in? I reckon it would be a great project as an electric conversion toad.... and you know how much I need another project
