What would be the best way to ship an awning from Rockhampton to Victoria? Would it be worth it (5m long)
Cheers

Re: awning transport
I'd try ringing either the Tomato or banana packers in Bowen or somewhere up there and offer a fistful of $$$$ to a driver to sling it along under his trailer. A few kg wouldn't worry him and it might buy him a slab for Christmas.
Ring these I see if they can help find a truckie. Best an owner driver but any might help you out.
You might have to meet them at the fruit & veg market when he gets there.

Also Google ........
Lindsay brothers transport.
or
Nolan transport.
Bernie's son also runs from up that way. Might be worth asking him?

Re: awning transport
Be aware that if it is one that hangs off the side it will make it overwidth, in NSW they will hammer you, but don't seem to matter so much elsewhere.

Re: awning transport
Thought it would be for the Vovo. Didn't know about the combi. They have these weird dimension machines in NSW, all laser beams and high tech, fortunately none manned on last trip, first time down the Pacific Hwy I just drove past them all, nutting said so far..........

Re: awning transport
No, you are right William, the awning will make it overdimension. Too wide if mounted on the side traditionally and too high if on the roof
I either stretch the law or go without awning
I was thinking of mounting it with handscrews (plastic knobs) only and pleading that its a temporary and removable item.

just like the bucks in your wallet.... stick to the law, because when you have an accident, the insurance company will look for ways to disown you. Being oversize is a no brainer.and pleading that its a temporary and removable item.

Re: awning transport
So you have to hang it off the roof, which on a decker is way too high. All our awnings hang off a profile system , inside the roof area, works ok for us, dunno how you are going to solve this one on a decker unless you can recess it.
Naw not an option, better leave it up there.

Re: awning transport
I have Awnings on both sides. Bus is 2400 wide plus awnings so 'technically' overwidth depending on how it is measured. That said, it's been registered in Qld, NSW, TAS and VIC in the last 7 years. When they do the measurement they always trust me with the other end of the tape measure.
In NSW they were the most strict. They even measured the depth of the headlights. When I asked why they said the headlights must be within 1200mm of the front of the vehicle. I didn't say anything to them, but did they need a tape measure? They're only recessed 100mm.
