Flexible solar panel

Post by shonky »

HI, all.

Bought a flexible panel a month ago, finally set it up and find the surface current shows but no amps are emitted. I've tried a folding panel on the same equipment and it's fine. FYI I use Anderson plugs on 4mm2 cable and a Morningstar 30amp solar controller.

Plugs crimped on in reversed fashion?
In the sun what does your multi meter show by simply inserting the probes into the Anderson plug?

Hi, all.

BruceS - I'm getting a charging current on the clamp meter, but even using one of those rectangular chinese thingys no amps are turning up.Looks like I'll have to check out the diodes.

Maybe I'm not understanding you Bruce but if the panel is in bright sun there should be volts across both cables with your probes.
If there's volts it should produce current IF there's something hooked up to use some.
Got a 24v headlight globe or something? (or 2 12v ones in series)
