Back when there possibly were still those in power who remembered there was once an empire.... these days of free trade and a global economy the value of empire building or maintaining is no longer viable so it has all become out dated We now celebrate New Yrs in a much bigger way than before, probably as a celebration of actually making it to the next yr with still enough money to buy a drink and set off a sky rocket..... till the credit runs out
