Someone is on our side

Post by Greynomad »

Dunno if most people would regard a fractured leg as 'good fortune', but I reckon the Big Fella is looking after us.
Had it not been for the necessity to abandon our WA Wildflower tour, we'da been en route home and overnighting in Adelaide last night...
Regards & God bless,

I'm alive here at Glenelg. Sure there was a bit of rain, but it's been worse. There's been a bit of wind, but it's been worse. But the influence of those who would take us back into the dark ages has never been worse. The sun isn't shining so the solar doesn't work. The wind is too strong for the wind generators to function. Thank goodness for coal - damn, they just blew up the last coal generator last week.

Lucky I have a pedal generator so that I am able to post this.

Idiots.

The system still won't run with the power lines down. Yes it is in the dark ages in SA, but crap infrastructure is the case, not renewable energy. The grid let the system down, nothing else, when the grid failed the links interstate shut down as did all forms of power generation connected to the grid. If we were so backward we relied on coal fired power stations to keep the lights on then we would have something to worry about, but even when there were all the coal fired power stations running SA still had a lot of black outs, so what was blamed then?
At least you are back home in one piece Ray, you might have been in Mannum suffering the fall out from an extended winery tour, that might have been more hazardous to your health than a bit of wind and rain

the same someone blew a fuse or two in SA?
They are doing pretty well in SA really, the East coast of USA went down a couple of years ago, took them nearly 2 days to get it sparking again. Most of SA is back online already. "someone" cannot have it both ways, surely? ;)

I have no argument against renewable energy, Terry, and I tip my hat to the pioneers - particularly to the storage side of "instant" energy (read you and your kind). However, I think it was narrow minded ideology to cut a relatively reliable supply before the renewable sources and their economical storage and distribution are in place. :)

But Steve you know that all of those assets being sold was really just about gaining instant revenue & to bolster the books for short time gain. Gov workers superannuation comes to mind.
Water has been already sold. Not much else to sell left now.......... OK, let's get the other mob in and blame them!
I think the high voltage towers (quite a few of them) that 'fell over' must have had a terrific wind hit them.
I heard the wires between the towers got hit from side on & the towers just buckled & bent.
Somewhere up between Pt Augusta and Mildura. Missed you by quite a bit Steve?

Those towers were a distributor to north and west of State, not a feeder. Loss of power came because feeders from Victoria shut down.
