Tap threads that leak

There is an ever increasing problem with RVers placing thread tape onto tap threads because their hose adapters leak. This is just wrong.

The hose adapter seals by the use of a washer within the adapter that seals to the bottom of the tap thread. Placing thread tape on the thread just makes it more difficult to get the washer to perform its intended task.

How do we educate people to stop using thread tape incorrectly?

Dunno Jon .... there are a few who use it as a Germ barrier I think.
Thread tape & then put on the rubber gloves.

Yes Bruce, a rough crossing but we survived
Staying on the Tamar this week, sailing on her Friday.
Can't see thread tape that never touches the water being much of a germ barrier. I wouldnt mind if it was easier to remove.

A wire brush removes it pretty quickly.
