New MPPSolar Combo

Post by BruceS »

Naughty me copied/pasted the following .........

Hi All
Today we fired up the new PIP-5048, working good the fans run all the time unlike the earlier version's
And they have finally put the fans in the other way round, now they draw the cool air in through the bottom and the heat comes out the top, As it should.
The IGBT's on the High Voltage side, STGW80H65DFB

Note on another post.
Loads that affect voltage stability:
LG front load washing Machine on the wash cycle, made the lights flicker in the house and the old battery charger I had running, the old volt/amp meter would bounce noticeably.

Now I fitted a ferrite Round cable suppression sleeve around the cord of the appliance, tried a few sizes best results form the small one that fits snug around the cord. less noticeable flicker on the house lights and no bounce on the battery charger volt/amp meter. All Good
Just thought someone may find that helpful.

Cheers
Aaron

We had dramas with Brian's (Homeless) PL40 when we connected up the first PIP inverter/charger, but ferrites on each of the PL40 input cables sorted the problems. Even though the supplier says the PIP units meet the Aust emissions standards I'm still not convinced the ripples on the extra low voltage side are filtered, could this be back feeding ripples into the whole 24v to 240vac circuits? Way outside my area of knowledge so just putting it forward as a possible cause to the problems.

I do remember way back there being issues with inverter air con units upsetting small grid supply areas on the outer legs of some suspect supply lines and issues with inverter washing machines upsetting Onan generators so there maybe a few similarities there as well. I remember being attacked on the Caravaner forum for even mentioning it and told it couldn't possibly happen....... so much for the brains trust over there eh

We bought a F and P dishwasher, kept throwing error messages, they pulled it after trying to fix it a few times, would never do anything wrong when they were there.
Once we were on the second one the missus worked out that the error messages only came at night, when the dining room light (12 x 12v globes x 2 transformers) was on. leave the DW to do its thing in the dark and it was happy.
Different circuits, not even on the power circuit, this was on the lights circuit, so you tell me ?
Our sparky is pretty cluey, unlike most, and it had him shrugging the shoulders.
