Zen solar and batteries

Drop in and dribble on about nothing serious. Seriously a mad place to hang out. Better to avoid it if you're not in the mood!!! If you're determined to be sad, bad, mad & angry then move along!!!

Does seem expensive, my best quote so far for a 4.4kw system installed, connected and working with a 14c FIT is $3,300!
No storage though.

Ummm...... who is offering a 14c feed in tariff in NSW? Last I heard the resellers thought they were doing people a favour by accepting the solar power and there was talk of increasing the supply charge to cover the electricity you self generated and used rather than buying it from the grid.

8kWh of storage wouldn't be enough to run an average house for 1/2 day, the 8kWh of battery storage would be worth around $5000 but this is raw cell costs. There are still the costs for strapping, linking the cells, solar control and inverters to convert the battery DC voltage to 240vac. The sad thing is these people quote for grid connect and battery feed into the same grid connect inverter but the battery management is poor to say the least and generally relies on off peak charging from the grid to recharge the battery pack rather than actually solar charging the battery. The price quoted is with them recovering all the govt incentive payments as well, they certainly could offer that price for an off grid system. These system are call peak shifting and use the battery capacity to supplement the peak price draw from the grid... not replace it entirely.

Hi Terry. Thought you would know all the fine print. I made an enquiry about a deal a while ago and they keep sending me these deals that are to good to refuse.
Must catch up with you soon before I start putting the cladding back on my van. Will send a PM

Make it mid Nov for a trip to T1. :) have something for you ;) ;) We looked at getting more solar but we would lose the 58cent rebate so decided to stay small and cash in. :)

Talking of solar I saw a video someone posted on FB
To overcome the problem of solar panels heating up the Chinese floated them on a lake to get maximum production from them.
Don't do things in a small way, 86 hectares of them in one install ! That's 165,000 panels in one place !!!!!!!!!!!

Interesting, I had a look at their terms and conditions and only the voluntary feed in tariff is fixed for the 2 yr period, the govts enforced part can be varied during this contract period so either they are planning to make up the short fall if the govt reduces their contribution or some where in the fine print there is a definite maybe regarding you getting the 14c feed in tariff for the 2 yr contract ;) What is the deal after the 2 yrs?

I have seen a solar farm in China Much, Much bigger than 86 hectares, all built on rocky waste land in the Yangtze River valley. :)
