Are we blessed with an electrician here....
I have a fuse box on the side of the shed that has a 10amp double powerpoint in it, of which is a waste as I neva use it. I want to change the point over to a 15amp one so as to hook the van up to for charging.
My question is, can that be done or does the wiring dictate what point to have.
It's a trap, it's a trap, stay away sorry, it's an inside joke, electrical threads involving 240vac anything always turn into a sh*tte fight within a few posts. It's an area for licenced electricians and each case needs a licenced electrician to actually look at the wiring you have already to see if a 15 amp outlet can be installed in place of the 10 amp outlet. No point in quoting Aust Standards etc as it will be meaningless to anyone outside the trade, any other answer is going to be too general and misleading I'm afraid, so it's look through the phone book for a local sparkie.

Basic info I've found dictate that a 15A power point must have only the ONE outlet.
It must have a seperate circuit breaker at the switchboard & that's it!
(Like a large air conditioner or even an electric stove)
If you flip the circuit breaker at the switchboard (that's legal) can you tell if ANYTHING else stops working as well?
That is very basic brief comment. You still need someone to do it & check that everything else complies.
Size of wires being one ......... etc etc

I am sure there is a electrical item advertised in the wanderer called the fibian or something that allows a 15A lead to be connected to a 10A plug (GPO) I assume this also means you would only use the available 2400W from the 10A supply.

Yes ,an" Ampfibian "adapter is the easiest & LEGAL way & can be used ANYWHERE where only a 10A outlet is available
Depending on how upto date your house wiring is[ only an electrician can determine that] ,it could also work out a LOT CHEAPER
And the Ampfibian is hand when you are visiting/freeloading and they don't have a 15A outlet ready for you.
One less excuse to say no, you won't fit it.

You know the original poster was just looking for a means of charging his battery whilst in the garage so unless his battery charger is 'built in' why not just throw an extension lead in the door or storage area (where ever his charger is) & plug it in direct? The charger would never need the 15A.
