Enjoy your travels Bruce, you can go and see what's changed since you were there last, just a bit quicker and a lot more comfort than when you were in the 1418 Benz ;)

Hi. Looks like the weather is a bit crappy down that way today but Sunday and Monday looks OK. Need an update and more pics perhaps one from the top of Mount Shank if you get down that far. Happy touring.
cheers John

Well I guess it's about time I updated my info.
A long story so if not interested, that's OK. Just move along!

As most of you know, Wendy & I bought & lived on a houseboat in Mannum Waters Marina where Brian (Homeless) also lives.
Coming up 4 years ago Wendy passed away due to a long term illness. (emphasemia)(sp?)
It just never was the same living on the boat by myself so I reckoned it was time to move on & into a more final "home".
At about 76 what do you do? Retirement homes don't appeal to me. (Hey Brian?)
Wendy's daughter has been pestering me to move up to Nebo rather than her flying down all the time to see me etc.
So ..... the plan & plot thickened!
I figured to sell the houseboat & berth I needed somewhere to "put things" for a while & to live somewhere while the sale went thru.
Some months ago (or more?) I bought a small Winnebago that had a late model Suzuki Jimny flat towed. That solved the living & moving side of things.
The next problem was removing all possessions from the boat & then eventually to get it up to Qld.
OK, I found an Isuzu furniture, removal, delivery truck for a good price & it's rated at GVM 7.5t. Has a one tonne lifting, full width tailgate with a roller door on the rear & a big side opening door on the left side.
The sale went thru, all the gear is in the truck & I drove the Winny up to Qld.
The truck & my 2016 Suzuki Vitara (not Grand) is still in Mannum.
So ...... We, Wendy's daughter and myself, intend flying from Mackay to Bris to Adel on this Fri the 26th. We will then both drive up to Nebo, QLD as quick as we can safely to attempt to get back for her next shift in the mines. It's going to be interesting trip as if we want comfort we;ll need motels or else we rough it like truckies with a pillow on the steering wheel.
Google reckons about 25 hours I think?
Oh .... trip up was via Tooleybuc, Hay, Cobar, St George, Cunnamulla, Augathella, Clermont, then to Nebo. This time, depending on my assessment of reliability etc, I reckon we'll go the same way but then divert out to Miles from Bourke & up to Dingo & then Nebo.
More info to follow......
