AC dismantled

Post by BruceS »

Well the AC in the Isuzu removal truck was siezed so me being me decided to wreck it to see why.
I knew it wasn't the clutch so dig deeper.
Easy to see why. It ran dry & munched up most everything.
All the little pistons were good but the ball & socket that the disk sat on were just about welded together.
Not sure if I'll ever get it working with a new one because it's likely other parts are stuffed as well.
It is 1997 after all.

Bruce, isuzu are fantastic with parts.

If it's available, they will get it. No surcharge if it had to come from Japan.

Parts are cheap too. Quite amazing.

You just need the vin number and then ring. The service is next to none.

Bruce, did you ever figure out the issues with alternator and start relay?
You obviously realise how much easier it is to get access to the engine, if your cab still tilts. I had so much fun replacing the compressor on our Winny. It was like doing keyhole surgery

Yes David. It was a bad crimp of the voltage sense wire inside the waterproof plug that went into the back of the alternator.
Took a long time to work out how to remove the thing from inside the plug.
I'm glad I took it off because the oil return hose was broken. (Vacuum pump)

I think I'll need to look at that link on my computer but I reckon there are a few differences. Maybe not Australian version?
AC compressor looks different & the dome light is in the rear of the cab whereas mine is built into the base of the interior rear view mirror.

That's what the vin number showed.

But, you can backtrack and search for other variants.

Yes thanks Jon.
I did that & found it.
Seems to be a section not there that shows the AC compressor?
Says to refer to another section but ???
Not a biggy as I can easily find it on Ebay. Same make (Sanden) and model.
Actually a very reasonable price too but not doing it at this stage as my "man" suggests booking it in in Feb or March for gassing etc.
Probably could find someone else I guess.
Terry knows a chap in Mannum!!
David how long before your GK can bring his pump & gas bottle home? (wink wink)

Dunno Bruce, maybe a year or so. I might have to help him a bit with the purchase price. I'm looking forward to him being about to do a few little jobs around the house. Like replace a splitty....
Cheers
