I considered security cameras for our place. Almost 2.5 years since we were last there.
When it came down to it I couldn't see much point. I'm not going to keep an eye on my place 24/7 & chances are if anyone breaks in whilst I am thousands of kilometres away I won't be able to do much about it in a timely manner anyway even if I happen to be somewhere with a phone signal.
It was pleasing though that a friend who visits the place now & then & keeps some of his stuff in my shed, was recently accosted by one of my neighbours to check he wasn't up to no good after there had been a number of house break ins in the area .

Cuppa, I have to have security camera's by law, otherwise wouldn't have them as we are pretty isolated and crime in my are is almost non existent until the urban weekender are around over xmas.

NP, Why would anyone be required to have security cameras by law? Are you a firearms dealer, a poppy grower ... or something like that? I appreciate you may not wish to say & that's fine, I'm just curious.

Cuppa, certain gun owners are required by law in Tas to have security camera's and we are one of those. At night you can see little flashing red lights around the farm, now I have them, wouldn't be without them. When we are on the road, can log into the system through my Ubports phone, or linux laptop and see what the weather and horses are doing.
