Had a crack at a Boggie Board in mid 30's and again in my early 40's, the body didn't recover near as well even then from a good washing machine workout or being dumped of the top of a breaking wave .....

That sounds very much like spring was in the Illawarra, rain from around 1 am till 7 am, the time I was out on the milk run as a kid, then mid 20's throughout the day. December/January were the humidity killer mths and February was the killer mth, hot, dry and bushfires. When we left there 8 yrs ago, the Feb heat extended through to April and early May, never saw snow on the mountain looking towards Roberston or Bowral and they even removed the icy road warning over the tops of Mt Ousley, Macquarie Pass and Bulli and the reports of trucks losing traction up Macquarie Pass and the top of Bulli were a thing of childhood memories.native pepper wrote: ↑Tue Dec 24, 2024 11:59 am Was surprised at how my body handled surfing at this age, but have found it takes a bit more out of me than in the past so recovery means a bit of a nap after showering and washing my gear along with sore muscles which is diminishing as do more. Even though I've been reasonably slim all my life, have never been able to float, just sink whilst everyone else seems to be able to just float round and have no idea why that is, even the dogs float but I sink.
Not sure it's it's climate change, but our weather is certainly getting very different. We've gone from hot summers with bouts of cold and cold rain and snow winters with brilliant sunny days, to now our winters are warm and rainy. Temperatures during winter have yet to get below zero in the last 3 years and now our summers seem to have developed into tropical weather, with rainy nights and days and temps which have yet to reach 30, something which in the past was the norm. This year we're getting showers almost every day and temperatures have yet to pass 23, which is excellent and in line with warming.
Mine did, in summer the floor was too hot to put your feet on, in winter, too cold to touch with the fear the skin would stick, so they had heating and cooling .... just not operator controllableGreynomad wrote: ↑Wed Dec 25, 2024 3:28 pm In my callow youth I worked in Moree & Inverell.
One winter driving home for a rostered long weekend break I passed through Glen Innes only to find a roadside sign “Road Closed. Black Ice.” On the long steep hill on the exit from town.
Eight O’clock at night and Council had a Bulldozer using its steel tracks to break up the ice — and it was sliding about!
Eventually the road was cleared and the queue of traffic was allowed to go.
Don’t see that happening these days.
Although …
Rutherglen still regularly records —6 in winter and +50 in summer!
ps. In my Moree/Inverell days, my BMC 4-door Mini (panel van) did NOT come with a heater as standard equipment!
